Have you seen the beautiful project kit in the holiday catalogue, “Christmas Countdown“? This kit includes enough supplies to create 25 mini boxes, plus a sturdy outer box to hold them all. Fill the boxes with small gifts, and let the countdown begin!

While you can complete the project using the Christmas Countdown stamp set, creative demonstrators and crafters have come up with many other ways to use the kit. Here are some beautiful alternative projects using holiday-themed papers and products.

You can also use the kit to count down to a different event, such as Thanksgiving, Halloween, or a special birthday. Check out these alternatives!

One clever demonstrator decided to decorate the boxes with punch art to count down to a family trip to Disney World!

Or, you can simply decorate it with some of your favourite papers and let it be a year-round decor/organization item.

The sliding boxes/drawers have a front and back, so you can get two countdowns in one kit – use it to count down to Halloween, then flip the drawers around and use the countdown to Christmas side.

The possibilities are endless! Contact me today to order yours, or shop 24/7 at my online store. Be sure to show me a photo of your completed kit in the comments. I’d love to see what you use it for!

Crumb Cake layer: 4 x 5.25″
Black panel: 2-1/8 x 4-7/8″

Just in time for the holiday crafting season, Stampin’ Up!’s brand new, redesigned trimmer is now available! Here are all the facts you need to know about this terrific new tool.

Price: $34 compared to previous trimmer at $41

Blades: badass and ready for business. Look how much smaller the old blades (left) are, compared to the new ones! Your new trimmer includes a scoring blade and a cutting blade, and each has a point on the handle for precise measurements (no more guessing where the blade is within the handle!).

Size: 15-3/8 x 8″; a little larger than the previous trimmer, and much more sleek in design.

Shape: Rectangular, for easy and convenient storage. There’s even a hanging hook!

Measurements: The main body of the trimmer, and the fold-out arm, include both metric and imperial measurements. The ruler guide includes only imperial measurements. Notice that the fold-out arm has no ‘gap’ in measurements, as the previous trimmer did!

If you’re used to the old trimmer, you may notice that this one has some lovely improvements: a larger base plate, longer extension, more space to the right of the ruler guide for cutting smaller strips (and a better rail for keeping the paper straight while doing so).

While it was certainly challenging to be without a trimmer in our product line for the past several months, I am grateful that Stampin’ Up! took all the time they needed to be sure that the replacement product would be as high-quality as possible. Demonstrators are describing the new trimmer as “sturdy, yet lightweight,” “well-made and stable”, and “worth waiting for”! Now you can order your own, via my online store or by contacting me. I just know you’re going to love it!

I received a beautiful card from a fellow demonstrator in a recent Christmas card swap, and I decided to have a go at creating it myself, particularly the stunning birch background which looks for all the world as if it is three-dimensional. I am so pleased with the result – it REALLY looks like woodgrain!

The birch background stamp is so minimal, but creates such a striking effect, especially when you use the Stamparatus to stamp it twice with different ink colours (I used Gray Granite and White). I stamped first in white, then cleaned the stamp, moved my cardstock up a fraction of an inch, and stamped again in gray.

The Nature’s Beauty stamp set makes a great companion for the Birch stamp. Featuring detailed imagery of woodland creatures, this stamp set is terrific not just for the holidays but for year-round projects such as birthdays, thank yous, and other occasions. You can colour the stamped images or leave them blank as I have done here. Best of all, Stampin’ Up! is donating $4 from every Nature’s Beauty sale to mental health organizations around the world. Here in Canada, the funds are going to the Center for Addiction and Mental Health.

Have you made any projects with either of these stamps? Share them in the comments below! I love to see your creations!
