My friend and teammate Alanna gave me this beautiful fun fold card quite a while ago, and I’ve been meaning to figure out how to re-create it. I’ve finally done it! I don’t know what this fun fold is called, so I’ve just called it the “Fun Flap Card”!

You will need the following cuts of cardstock and Designer Series Paper:

Cardbase: 5.5 x 10”, scored at 4.25 & 8.5”
Same colour cardstock: 3 x 6”, scored at 3”
(these two can be cut from one sheet of 8.5 x 11” cardstock)

White insert: 4 x 5.25”
White cardstock: 2.75 x 2.75” (2 pieces)

DSP: 4 x 5.25” (2 pieces)
5.25 x 1.25” (2 pieces)
2.75 x 2.75”

You’ll also need some ribbon.

As you can see, I’m using the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper, which, along with the Berry Blessings stamp set, is a Level Two reward item during Sale-a-Bration. You can earn these products FREE with your $120 purchase until February 28th – don’t miss out, you’ve only got a few more days to get these exclusive items!

Once you’ve scored your cardbase, you can stamp on your white insert and adhere it to the card as below.

Next, adhere DSP panels on either side of your white insert.

Flip the card over to decorate the front with DSP panels as well.

Here’s what your card looks like when “closed”.

Set your cardbase aside for now, and let’s use these smaller pieces to create a mini-card. The thing to remember about this mini-card is that unlike most cards, it opens on the LEFT side.

Stamp as desired on your two white pieces. One will be the front of your mini card, and one will be the inside.

Now adhere your pieces to THE INSIDE ONLY of your mini card. Don’t attach the front yet.

Attach your mini card to the large card as below.

Now lay your ribbon around the two cards so that both ends of your ribbon are towards the left side.

You can finally attach the stamped white piece to the front of your mini card, on top of the ribbon.

Add some Tear and Tape to the back of your cardbase to keep the ribbon running along the centre back of the card, and tie a bow to keep your card closed.

Here’s how it looks with the mini card open:

And the full card open:

Last week was Vancouver Island’s once-a-year snowstorm, and I was all too happy to cozy up in my craft room to make some cards.

I used a fun layout I learned from fellow demonstrator Tamara, who showed me how to make six cards with a half-sheet of Designer Series Paper! (Note – direction matters: the photo below shows the DSP in the correct orientation).

Start by cutting along the long side of the DSP at 1.75″ – do this twice, to get two strips that are 1.75″ wide.

Then, cut the last piece in half at 1.25″ wide.

Now you have two pieces that are 1.75″ wide, and two pieces that are 1.25″ wide.

Cut the two wider pieces at 4.25″ long. Cut the two narrower pieces at 3.75″ long. You’ll get two cuts out of each strip of paper.

Now you have the following:
six pieces – 3.75 x 1.25″
four pieces – 1.75 x 4.25″
two pieces – 1.75 x 3.5″

To finish your cards, you will need:

Six cardbases (8.5 x 5.5, scored at 4.25″)
Cardstock mats:
(6 pieces) 4 x 1.5″
(4 pieces) 2 x 4.5″
(2 pieces) 2 x 3.75″

Six white (or vanilla) layers, 4 x 5.25″, embossed if desired
Ribbon/embellishments
White shapes for stamping sentiments

Put your DSP pieces in pairs – whatever sizes look good together to your eye. Flip one piece in each pair so that you have two different patterns.

And finally, turn all these magic ingredients into cards! Choose whatever sentiments you like, assemble, and embellish as desired. Easy peasy!

This week’s Stampin’ Sunday video will show you how to do a simple technique with the Blending Brushes to create a beautiful shadow effect around a shape.  I’m using the Dragonfly Garden bundle for my project, but you can use any stamp set you like!

You’ll need:

Card base: 5.5 x 8.5”
Mat layer: 4 x 5.25
White: 3 x 4.25″
DSP: 4.25 x .75″

This is a great card layout that really creates a fun effect! For best results, choose a large stamp that will take up almost the whole space of your white cardstock.

You’ll need:
Cardbase: 5.5 x 8.5″
DSP: 4 x 5.25″
Contrasting cardstock: 3.25 x 4.5″
White cardstock: 2.75 x 4″

Stamp your large image on your white cardstock, and colour it in if needed. I used the largest stamp from “Garden Wishes” in the Spring Mini Catalogue, and coloured it in with my Blends.

Now grab your paper trimmer – we’re going to cut up that cardstock you just finished stamping and colouring! (I know it’s so counter-intuitive, but TRUST me on this.)

Cut the cardstock in half vertically at 1-3/8″.

Take one of the strips and cut it at 1.25″ from the bottom.

Take the other strip and cut it at 1.25″ from the top.

Now you’re ready to assemble the card! As you can see, I added a sentiment as well, after the cutting was done. I also used Dimensionals to attach the top two layers to the card.

Doesn’t this layout create a neat effect? I hope you’ll give it a try!

Our first Sale-a-Bration of 2021 is more than halfway over!! Remember that this year, we get to enjoy Sale-a-Bration TWICE for two months each; once in January-February, and again in July-August.

As usual, Sale-a-Bration offers terrific rewards for those who Shop, Host, or Join. There are exclusive free products to be earned with your purchase from either the annual catalogue or the new Spring Mini catalogue. You can choose a Level One item with every $60 purchase, and a Level Two item for every $120 purchase.

With all these exclusive rewards available, your guests will be excited to order – and that means free product credits for you, the hostess! If you host a party that reaches $375 in sales, you’ll receive rewards three ways! First, you’ll get to choose your free Sale-a-Bration items based on your own order. Then, you’ll get your hostess rewards (product credit) of 12% of party sales (minimum $45). And on top of all that, you will receive an exclusive hostess stamp set, Punch Party, which coordinates with three of our awesome punches! If you’d like to host a virtual party this month, contact me soon – my calendar fills up quickly! We’ll play games and get to know each other, and I’ll share information about Stampin’ Up! products and specials. Guests can place orders at any time during the party; we’ll use a hostess code to ensure that all the rewards go to your account. There will even be prizes for participating in the party!

Joining during Sale-a-Bration is always a great deal. In addition to your $165 Starter Kit, made up of product YOU choose and discounted to $135, you’ll also receive a welcome gift from Stampin’ Up! – an assortment of six 6×6″ stacks of our newest Designer Series Papers. Your kit also includes business supplies and free shipping right to your door!

There are so many awesome reasons to become a demonstrator. Let’s start with the most obvious: demonstrators get a 20-25% discount on all their orders, which translates into 20-25% commission when they start to build their business! Let’s face it, we could all use a little extra income – and income earned for doing something you already love is a win-win!

I am looking for some new members to join my team this month, so I’m hosting an Opportunity Night on Thursday, February 18th. Think of this as “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Being a Demonstrator, But Were Too Shy To Ask!” 😁 I’m excited to answer ALL your questions so that you can feel confident getting started on a stampin’ adventure that’s just for you. Find more details here, and then plan to join me on Zoom for a fun, casual evening with learning, games, crafting, prizes, and connection! The Spring mini is FULL of terrific items that you’re going to be so excited to get your hands on – why not join my team and get them all at a discount? 😉
