The Double Fan Fold card is so stunning! Not only does it make a big impression on the viewer, it also fits in a notecard-size envelope (4.25 x 5.5″) for mailing. Here’s how to make your own!

You will need the following cuts of cardstock:

Cardbase: 7.5 x 5.5″
Cardstock mats (all same colour):
2.25 x 5.25″ (2 pieces)
1 x 5″ (2 pieces)
1 x 2.25″ (4 pieces)

And the following cuts of DSP / white cardstock:

White cardstock: 2 x 5″
DSP:
2 x 5″
0.75 x 4.75″ (2 pieces)
0.75 x 2 (4 pieces)

Your DSP can be the same for all pieces, or a variety of different patterns – it’s up to you. For this card, I used one pattern for the three largest pieces, and a different pattern for the four smaller pieces.

Start by scoring your cardbase along the short side at 1.25 and 2.5″ on each side.

Next, score diagonally to create an “x” like below on each side of your cardbase.

Burnish all the folds with your bone folder, and then fold the diagonal folds into Valleys (folds pointing away from you) and the vertical folds into Mountains (folds pointing towards you).

Here is a view of the card from the back.

Another view from the back.

From the front.

From the front again.

From the back, with both fan panels completely folded.

Now it’s time to add DSP. Add one large panel of cardstock + DSP to the front of the card.

Add one large panel of cardstock + white cardstock to the back of the card. Add a stamp to decorate, if desired.

You have four small pieces of DSP and four small pieces of cardstock….

Cut two of each diagonally from the top right, and two of each diagonally from top left.

Attach the DSP to the cardstock.

These pieces will go on your side panels as shown, between the vertical and diagonal folds.

You have two tall strips of cardstock and two tall strips of DSP.

Mark each one at the centre point, and then cut from the centre point to the opposite corner to create a triangle. (I found this easiest to do by marking the line with a ruler and then cutting with scissors.)

Attach your DSP triangles to the cardstock. Note that they don’t line up perfectly, but it will still look good when the card is completed!

These two triangles attach on the outer panels of your card.

Here’s how the card looks from the front when folded.

Now it’s time to decorate!

Here’s the finished card from the front …

… and from the back.

In preparation for the upcoming January-June Mini Catalogue, I decided to use up the last bits of some of my Designer Series Paper packs. Here are the last cards with Ornate Garden:

And the last cards with Brightly Gleaming – which is NOT just for Christmas cards!

The last cards with now-retired papers Parisian Beauty, Peaceful Poppies, and Flowering Foils:

I absolutely love the Forever Greenery paper, and I bought an extra pack of it during last month’s DSP sale. This isn’t the last of that pack – I’ve got lots left still, which is why I felt I could make these lushly layered cards. I made 20 of each!

Then my Product Purchase Premiere arrived (that’s an exclusive pre-order open to demonstrators who attended OnStage). I ordered the gorgeous Fine Art Floral paper and whipped up some of these handy post-it note holders.

Thanks for stopping by to see my projects! If you’re interested in buying any of the supplies needed to create your own, have a look at the shopping list below. Take care and Happy Stampin’!

At the beginning of 2020, I had planned to travel to Utah this month to attend OnStage. OnStage is a semi-annual celebration of all that is Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the world attend this event where achievers are recognized for their accomplishments over the past year, we are all spoiled with swag and gifts, and we get to see the upcoming catalogue before anyone else. There are business presentations, product demonstrations, and opportunities to use brand new products and even take them home.

Then, of course, Covid threw us all a curveball, and travelling to Utah was out of the question – but Stampin’ Up! wasn’t about to let that stop them. Instead, they figured out ways to offer the whole event in a virtual format. So instead of travelling, I got to stay at home in my comfy clothes – with no airplane or hotel costs, no worry about childcare, and no lineup to my own private bathroom – and enjoy an amazing three days of learning, laughing, creating, and celebrating together with over 10,000 other demonstrators around the world!

The fun started on Thursday evening with a wonderful performance by rock legends Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo, who performed several of their classic hits and had us all dancing around our respective rooms. Pat’s voice was as strong and flawless as ever, and she gave us an amazing performance to kick off an evening of celebration!

I was honoured to be recognized in three categories for my achievements over the past year (October 2019 – September 2020).

As my name was called, I blew a kiss to all my fans, followers, team members and customers who have helped me reach these goals! (By the way – if you’re reading this, THAT MEANS YOU!)

It was also very motivating to see the higher achievements from all over the world be recognized and applauded! It was wonderful to cheer and give shout-outs in the online chat to all the names I recognized; I have made a LOT of friends through Stampin’ Up! When the recognition event ended, we were all given access to the beautiful new upcoming January-June mini catalogue, and the upcoming Sale-a-Bration brochure. As always, they are packed with great stuff that I can’t wait to show you!

Day Two began with some demonstrations with terrific new products from the upcoming Mini catalogue and SAB brochure. Here are some of my favourites:

Then it was time for the session I was most excited for! Had our event been taking place in person, we would have enjoyed a “Make and Take” project with brand new products. Stampin’ Up! wanted to give us this opportunity, but had to do it a little differently and even give it a new name: Stamp and Share! All demonstrators who registered for OnStage were given the opportunity to purchase a variety bundle of products to use in the Stamp and Share. It was a little nerve-wracking to order product sight unseen, but I took the plunge, and I’m so glad I did because I LOVE these products!

Clockwise from bottom left: the Dragonfly Garden stamp set + punch, Mossy Meadow 1/4″ braided trim, cardstock and DSP prepared as per the instructions for the Stamp and Share, tiny ladybug charms, and Dandy Garden 6×6″ Designer Series paper. (BTW: I LOVE this paper.) Along with thousands of demonstrators from all over the world, I stamped, punched, and assembled as instructed (not so different from the Mystery Stamping events I hold!) and created the three beautiful cards below:

I had so much fun playing with this suite of products and was absolutely tickled that for my Pop-Up Prize, I won the second stamp set from the suite! This wonderful stamp set, Garden Wishes, co-ordinates with a very charming set of dies, including one that embosses a curvy little dotted path to indicate where the bee is flying. I love sweet little touches like that!

And if you’re wondering what a Pop-Up Prize is? Every demonstrator who attends OnStage is given a prize number, from 1-6. The numbers are drawn throughout the day, and everyone with that number wins that prize. By the end of the day, every demonstrator has won a prize! Here are the other prizes won at the event:

Another presentation I loved was when Shannon West introduced us to “Choose Your Own Adventure” stamping as she held interactive polls for the audience to choose the paper, ink colour, and embellishments – then she used the winning items to create her cards. I’d love to include something like this with my future videos and classes! 🥰

Here are some more amazing projects we saw in the product demonstrations from Day Two. All of these are from the upcoming January-June Mini Catalogue, which starts January 5.

Well Suited

Ice Cream Corner

Sand and Sea

Love You Always

One of the amazing traditions that Stampin’ Up! has created is that when a demonstrator reached one million CSV in sales, they get to work with a professional designer to design a stamp set in their honour. The demonstrators who achieved that goal this year got to present their stamp set to us at OnStage, and show us amazing projects they’d created with them. Which one is your favourite?

Treasures of Life – Gail Murray

Pretty Perennials – Deno Rekow

Hey Girlfriend – April Lopez

Happy Thoughts – Jackie Bolhuis

Two other highlights of the event were the amazing business presentation by social media strategist Brenda Ster, who gave us invaluable advice about how to define our social media presence in order to help our business reach the next level, and the delightful stamping session with Stampin’ Up! CEO Sara Douglass and her mother, Stampin Up! co-founder and Board Chair Shelli Gardner. It’s always fun to watch these two stamp and giggle together! At the end of their session, Sara and Shelli gave away one last prize, and they gave it to every demonstrator at the event: a 25 CSV product credit to be used on our next demonstrator order!

Here are some of the cards Sara and Shelli created, with the upcoming Fine Art Floral suite:

Can you spy the gilded leafing embellishment in the card above? It’s gorgeous!

As OnStage drew to a close, we got to learn where the next event would be held – and it’ll be a hop, skip, and a jump away from me! Provided that it is safe to travel by then, I’ll be so excited to attend OnStage Local next year in Vancouver, BC!

The final perk of attending OnStage is that while all demonstrators will be able to order from the upcoming January-June Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration brochure starting in December, OnStage attendees get to place an order THIS WEEK from a select list of upcoming products. As always, the hardest part is deciding which products to choose! After reading through this post, what would YOU choose?

Thanks for reading about all the adventures I had during OnStage @Home! I’m really glad that Stampin’ Up! found a way to make this event happen despite the challenging circumstances – and in many ways, it was even more fun and accessible than an in-person event. I love being part of a company that invests in their demonstrators this way, making sure we have the training, networking, and recognition we need. If you’re interested in being part of my team – and part of the global Stampin’ Up! community – let’s talk! I’m always looking for new team members who want to work their own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft their heart out!

Have you heard of Mystery Stamping? It’s one of the best ways we can create “together” while staying socially distanced. Here’s how it works: I’ll post a list of the supplies and tools you need to prepare, and then we’ll all meet on Zoom and assemble the cards together. It’s a ‘mystery’ because you don’t know yet what the finished project will be … and it’s extra fun because everyone will have different papers, stamps, etc. and we’ll get to see so many different interpretations of the same project!

I’ve been hosting Mystery Stamping once a month, and the next session is coming up next Monday, November 9th at 7:30pm.

Click here to see the supplies you’ll need, and then plan to join us on Monday night! Here are the Zoom details:

The Snowflake Splendor suite (pages 36-38 of your Holiday Mini Catalogue) has so much to love! The photopolymer stamp set, which includes 17 layering snowflake stamps, will help you decorate any wintry card or project. The co-ordinating dies (bundled for a 10% savings) are beautiful enough to be used on their own for a no-stamping card. The stunning Designer Series Paper is full of snowy beauty in all shades of blue, and gorgeous watercolour washes on the reverse side. Then there’s the show-stopping Balmy Blue glimmer paper, the irresistible sparkle of the adhesive-backed blue gems, and the delicate shimmer of the iridescent ribbon. And don’t forget the Winter Snow embossing folder!

I’ve had so much fun creating with this suite, I just had to build a class around it. And so November’s Creativity to Go, my version of an online card class, features the Snowflake Wishes stamp set! Be sure to sign up by November 10th to receive the stamp set along with all the supplies, products, and tutorials to make five wonderful cards such as the ones below!

The Triple Cube Card is the first card I made with this suite. It started as a great way to show off the beautiful DSP, but then I started playing with layering the stamped and die-cut snowflakes, and I had WAY too much fun! You’ll see plenty more of these layered snowflakes decorating several of the cards below!

Next I tried out the Double Fan Fold card. (I’ll be teaching this one in an upcoming newsletter, so be sure to subscribe!) This is a gorgeous fold with lots of opportunity for embellishment, and it looks stunning from any angle.

These next few cards make good use of the stamps alone, without any die-cuts to distract or decorate. These simple stamping cards are none the less beautiful!

And then, of course, I wanted to play around with the reverse … lots of die-cutting and hardly any stamping.

CASE’d from Paper Daisy Crafting

CASE’d from Sarah Cade

Here’s a minimalist card that is striking in its simplicity.

CASE’d from La Fee Kiki

In the cards below, I made good use of the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper to add gorgeous shimmer and sparkle.

CASE’d from Angela Meyer

Like the card above, the project below – perfect for holding a battery-operated tealight candle – uses the large snowflake ‘negative image’ die.

CASE’d from The Gentleman Crafters

I loved playing with the Winter Snow embossing folder to add texture to the cards, as well.

CASE’d from Heather Guerrera

CASE’d from Sarah Cade

And then I made a few fancy fold cards to let the beautiful Designer Series Paper really shine (along with those gorgeous layered snowflakes!) Here’s a centre easel card

…. an epic fold card

… a Centre Step Card ….

…. and a Double-Z fold card.

I also love the idea of playing with non-traditional, unexpected colours – so I had to try it out with this bundle!

CASE’d from Chris Smith

Even with all of these gorgeous cards, I feel like there is so much I could do with this suite. It is so fun and easy to create with! If you’d like to join me and create beautiful cards with the “Snowflake Wishes” stamp set and some of the other products from the suite, be sure to sign up for Creativity to Go by November 10th!
