Best Embellishment – Champagne Rhinestones

These stunning self-adhesive rhinestones are part of the Parisian Blossoms Suite, and their elegant, neutral champagne color means they’ll go with almost any project. Perfect for adding a little flair to your project!

Best Designer Series Paper – Peaceful Poppies

This is the first paper that caught my eye in the catalogue, and I am still madly in love with it. It features handpainted blooms and watercolor washes that make beautiful backgrounds or focal points for cards, scrapbook pages, and other paper crafts. Buy it as part of the Peaceful Poppies Suite or all on its own to add rich, lovely colours to any project!

Best Punch Bundle – Heartfelt Bundle

Hooray, hooray for heart punches! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Stampin’ Up! has given us a beautiful stamp set perfect for creating tags, treat boxes, and of course cards to share the love, and TWO co-ordinating punches to go along with the stamp set!

Best Die Bundle – Parisian Beauty Bundle

The elegant motifs in the Parisian Beauty Stamp Set evoke images of Paris in the spring. Perfect for travel, love, anniversaries, congratulations/graduation, and so much more!

Best New Tool – Paper Trimmer, 3D Embossing plate

Technically, both of these tools were already available, but it’s still lovely to see them OFFICIALLY added to the catalogue! NOTE: Any embossing folder with the word “3D” in the title requires use of the 3D embossing plate for best results.

Best Deal in the Catalogue: The Starter Kit

The Starter Kit is always the best deal in the catalogue, and during Sale-a-Bration, it’s even more awesome! Not only do you get to build your Starter Kit with whatever products YOU choose, with a 20% discount and free shipping to your door – if you join by March 31st, you’ll also receive a mini paper trimmer, a sampler pack of beautiful Designer Series Papers, AND a stamp set of your choice – all for free.  You can learn more about becoming a demonstrator by reading my Starter Kit FAQ, and if you still have questions, please email me! In Case You Missed It:
Planning a wedding or other event this season? So Inviting is the stamp set you need to make your invitations simply amazing!

Did you notice that the Ornate Frames dies are continuing? I’m so excited as I have not played with them nearly enough yet. And now there’s a wonderful new stamp set to go with the frame shapes: Perfectly Framed! What a wonderful collection of sentiments, along with a handful of imagery that is specially designed to set off the frames!

The Make a Splash hostess set is available to those who host a qualifying party ($200 or more) from now until June 2nd. You can create such charming scenes with these whimsical stamps, and add some terrific heartfelt sentiments as well.

Although the Little Ladybug stamp set is part of Sale-a-Bration, not the Spring Mini, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss out on this adorable stamp set! Hostesses can earn this set FREE when you host a party or place an order totaling $375 or more  before March 31st. These cute little ladybugs are so easy to love, and you’ll find it easy to host a qualifying party while all your guests are earning their own free Sale-a-Bration items! Contact me if you’d like to set up a card party so you can craft with your friends and earn free products!

Stampin’ Up! has continued their trend of including indexes in the front and back of the catalogue. The first few pages include an index of all the bundles….

…and the last few pages include “Catalogue At a Glance”, showing you graphics of all the stamp sets, punches, embellishments, papers, and more! With so many wonderful items inside, this is a great way for you to quickly find all your favourites!

The holiday catalogue is now live! Here are some of the products I’m excited to get my hands on. Will this help you narrow down your wish list, or perhaps prompt you to add a few more items you hadn’t considered?

Best Item for Beginners – the Perfectly Plaid bundle
If you want to buy only ONE product from the holiday catalogue and still be able to make a stack of Christmas cards – Perfectly Plaid is your perfect pick! With several charming tree images, a co-ordinating punch, and a collection of holiday sentiments, this bundle will have you crafting in no time.

Best Sentiment Stamp Set – Itty Bitty Christmas
What a terrific collection of all the holiday sentiments you might need – for gift packaging and tags, for handmade cards, for hostess gifts and table favours, for home decor items and tree ornaments – this enormously versatile collection features sentiments from whimsical to elegant and everything in between. It’s on my must-have list for sure!

Best Graphic Stamp Set – Snow Front
If you adore the Waterfront stamp set, you’ll love Snow Front, which features sparse trees and wintry scenes. You can use the stamp sets alone or together to create any scene you can imagine. Moreover, these stamps can be used throughout the year for so many occasions other than Christmas – birthday, thank you, sympathy, thinking of you, and more!

Best Embellishment –Star Designer Elements
These gorgeous copper-coloured stars are self-adhesive and faceted for extra sparkle. At just $12.25 for a pack of 40, they are a terrific value, as well! They are sure to get a lot of use on a wide variety of holiday projects!

Best Paper –Brightly Gleaming
The minute I saw this stunning Specialty Designer Series Paper, I had to have it!! Every sheet of this 12 x 12″ paper features copper foil accents on one side, along with seasonal images and all-purpose patterns on the other. Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, and Pretty Peacock make a GORGEOUS colour combination that is suitable not just for holidays but for masculine cards and gift-packaging throughout the year. It’s irresistible!

Best Punch Bundle – Merry Moose (runner up: Snowman Season)

This was a tough one to decide – charming snowman, or serene moose? Well, if I have to choose just one (and I do, at least for this blog post), it’s Merry Moose, again because it will be useful long after the holidays are over. Can’t you just see this handsome fella decorating a masculine birthday card? Or the sweet little raccoon on a child’s card? Even the tree images are going to come in handy all year round, making this one a winner for me.

(Shoutout to that adorable collection of snowmen, though!!)

Best Die Bundle – So Many Stars
Stitched dies have proven to be one of the most popular design elements of the last few years, and there’s no doubt that this bundle will be a huge hit. You’ll be able to create various custom die-cut stars with faux stitching and more in record time, and guess what (are you tired of hearing me say this?!) – stars are useful for so much more than holidays! They’ll be great for graduation cards, birthdays, congratulations, and so much more.

Best New Tool – Snow Globe Shaker Domes
Stampin’ Up! knows that we love making shaker cards, so they have given us a custom-built collection of products to help us do just that. Cut the shape into the cardstock using the Snow Globe Scenes dies; stamp images with Still Scenes stamp set; add a Snow Globe Shaker Dome, and fill with Snowflake Sequins. What a beautiful and unique holiday card, that anyone would love to receive!

Best Bling – Ice Stampin’ Glitter + Shimmery Crystal Effects
Every holiday project needs a little bling! You can use these products on their own, but when they are combined they create an amazing effect to rival Jack Frost – and you can get both for only $17. Simply gorgeous!

Best Halloween product – Ornate Frames Dies + Coffin Treat Boxes

Not much of a Halloween person? Fair enough, but I’m pretty sure you’ll find lots of uses for this terrific collection of frame dies. They’d be at home on any project (say it with me now) all year round!

And if, like me, you ARE into Halloween – well, chances are you’ll find these coffin-shaped treat boxes just as charming as I do! Use them as-is, or decorate them to suit your tastes – either way, they’ll be a fun addition to your Halloween celebrations!

ICYMI:

Mercury Sheets: Acetate sheets with a faux mercury finish allow for stunning effects.

Christmas Countdown Project Kit: Create your own handcrafted Advent keepsake.

And don’t forget these two awesome hostess sets, which you can only order if you host a qualifying party between September 4th and January 2nd!

Another meeting of the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! demonstrators group, another awesome collection of swap cards! In case you missed it, I shared all the make and take projects last week.

This time around we got to make and exchange Christmas cards. This year’s holiday catalogue is packed full of awesome goodies, and many of them are on display with today’s swap cards. As always, I’ve labeled the photos with the main products used and the names of the makers – except for cards which weren’t labeled when I received them, so I don’t know who made them!

Did you spot the Cup of Christmas bundle in the holiday catalogue? One of the awesome things about it is that it features reversible stamps! One side of the stamp creates the polka-dot image as shown above, and the other side stamps a striped mug. How fun is that?! Great collection of holiday sentiments with this stamp set as well! I love that Adrienne has finished the card with some gold foil pieces to pick up the gold foil accents on the Wrapped in Plaid paper.

The first of several cards in today’s collection to feature puff paint, a fun new embellishment available in the holiday catalogue, Bonny’s card also features …. no stamping! That’s right, the Santa shape, trees, and even the sentiment are all die cuts. I love that she has used a combination of foil (for Santa and his sleigh) and glimmer paper (sentiment + snowy hill) to create a card with a lot of sparkle, and of course the snow on the trees is a great touch!

Carolyn did a terrific job creating this fun card featuring the Perfectly Plaid suite. The gold foil shapes add a touch of bling to the layout, as does the gold shimmer paint on the tag, which was embossed with the Swirls and Curls folder. And if you look carefully, you’ll see that the red background was also embossed with the Subtle folder – it adds such a great texture to the project!

This card by Crystal was the subject of much discussion at the meeting. How DID she create that fabulous background? Is it DSP? Is it the Birch stamp? Well, Crystal shared with us the how-to: she used her Stamparatus and, yes, the Birch background stamp. She stamped first with white craft ink, let it dry completely, then moved her cardstock 1/16″ down to stamp with Gray Granite ink. The result has so much realism and dimension!

Dianne’s card features several different products: the Christmas Gleaming bundle and Brightly Gleaming paper to make the ornaments, the #Elfie stamp set and blends to create the charming elf, and a die from Stitched Labels on which she stamped the sentiment. And, she used the ever-popular Subtle embossing folder to add texture in the background!

I love Erica’s colour choices here with this adorable little bird from Birds of a Feather stamp set! The stamp set also includes adorable birds to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Valentine’s Day. Check it out on page 50 of your holiday catalogue!

This simple yet striking card by Jean is one of my favourites. Do you see how she scored borders around the outside of the card? What a terrific way to add interest!

Remember I told you that the Hammered Metal embossing folder was awesome? Well, here it is – was I right or what?! Madeleine has also used the Stitched Star dies to create that stunning star with gold foil. No wonder this card won first place!

MC’s charming card features the Holly Jolly bundle with this adorable hand-coloured Santa. How sweet!

I’ve had so many people ask me lately about making shaker cards, and now – Stampin’ Up! has made it easy, with the Snow Globe shaker domes! The stamp set provides beautiful wintery imagery, the co-ordinating dies cut them out, then the acetate domes encase the whole scene. You can add glitter or sequins to complete the effect. Simply stunning!

Another terrific card featuring the Christmas Gleaming suite, including the foil elements and the Hammered Metal embossing folder. Stunner of a card!

I love the way this creator (left anonymous as there was no name on the card) used puff paint on the In The Woods die to create this undeniably Christmasy tree, backed by the Wrapped in Plaid paper and a gorgeous gold-and-green ribbon. In The Woods can be found in your annual catalogue, while the rest of the products are in the holiday catalogue.

And of course you already saw the swap card that I made:

Which one of these cards is your favourite? Drop me a comment below and let me know!

It’s so much fun to connect with, share with, and learn from other demonstrators. I have met some wonderful people through this group! Being a demonstrator is awesome – you get to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out. If you’re interested or have questions, let me know!

The wait is finally over – the new annual catalogue launches today! Here are some of the products I’m excited to get my hands on. Will this help you narrow down your wish list, or perhaps add a few more items you hadn’t considered?

Best Item for Beginners – Above the Clouds bundle
This bundle has everything a beginner needs: some fun, easy graphical stamps that are suitable for a wide range of recipients; a versatile collection of sentiments to fit a variety of occasions; and a co-ordinating punch to step up your crafting game when you’re ready. I love the charming, watercolour look of the stamps, particularly the ‘background’ images Stampin’ Up! chose to include: clouds, pennants, birds, and banners. This will be a super easy-to-love bundle!

Best Sentiment Stamp Set – Here’s a Card
Clearly, the designers at Stampin’ Up! are keeping up with current trends in sassy-yet-sincere sentiments, because this stamp set has a great collection of them. Whether you want to send a card of encouragement (“It’s all messy. The hair, the house, the heart. Life”), celebrate a friendship (“I can’t begin to count all the times we’ve laughed together – mostly because numbers are hard”), or praise an accomplishment (“Congratulations on that thing you did. I’d give you a standing ovation, but here’s a card instead”), this stamp set has you covered. There are also a good number of genuine sentiments, including “I’m here if you need me”, “Thank you for being my friend”, “You made my day”, “Happy birthday”, and “May your heart find the peace it needs”. This is a terrific collection of sentiments that covers a wide range of occasions, sure to get lots of use throughout the year!

Best Graphic Stamp Set – Free as a Bird
Free as a Bird narrowly wins out over Floral Essence, which is also gorgeous and has a co-ordinating punch (you know how I love those!). I had to choose Free as a Bird simply because it will be suitable for a wider range of recipients (read: you can use it for masculine cards). I absolutely love the soft and simple lines of this stamp set, and the lovely sentiments that go along with them. The size of the stamps means you can easily complete a card with only one or two stamps, as shown here in the sample we made at OnStage:

If you want to step up your Bird Ballad projects even more, consider the laser cut cards and tin – a set of 12 lacy laser-cut cards ready for your finishing touches. The tin even includes 12 co-ordinating scalloped-edge envelopes, all for only $24.

Best Timesaver – Memories & More Card Packs
The two suites featured on the catalogue cover, Magnolia Lane and Come Sail Away, each have co-ordinating Memories & More card packs that can have you creating 50 flawless cards in only a few minutes, for only $15. Craft with the pre-designed elements as they are, or add co-ordinating products from the rest of the suite to really step up your projects. Either way, it’s a brilliant timesaver with great value!

Best Embellishment – Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit
Honourable Mention to the stunningly gorgeous flower faceted gems, created to co-ordinate with the Mosaic Mood suite but ready to add a touch of bling to any project. In the end, though, I have to give top prize to the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit. For only $15, you get over 70 individual embellishments including stitched felt shapes, silver charms, and paper clips, plus six yards of linen thread in two beautiful colours. And it all comes in an adorable designer box, ready for re-purposing or gift-giving! Sign me up!

Best Bundle – Daisy Lane bundle
I love that Stampin’ Up! has come out with another daisy-themed bundle, and this one is the best of both worlds. If you already have the Daisy Delight stamp set and Daisy punch, this new bundle will co-ordinate with it beautifully, and even includes a daisy stamp that fits your pre-existing Daisy punch. If you don’t have those products, you can jump straight into using this new bundle, with its adorable floral imagery (that fern!) and a charming new Medium Daisy punch. Absolutely delightful!

Best Paper – Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper
When I first saw this stunning paper on the display boards at OnStage, I audibly gasped. The royal colours, the shimmering foil, and the elegant repeating patterns … I am in love. And that’s before we even look at the rest of the suite, which includes a stamp set and die cut bundle, a beautiful embossing folder, sparkly rhinestones with the same rich colours, and shimmery reversible ribbon …! But back to the paper. Featuring one of our brand new In Colors, “Pretty Peacock“, this specialty foil paper is going to add a lush richness to your projects that any lucky recipient is sure to appreciate.

Best New Tool – Die Brush Tip
The new Storage by Stampin’ Up! is amazing, but we’ve already talked about that! There are some other great tools to check out, though. For example, remember last year when I predicted that we’d see some new interchangeable heads for the Take Your Pick tool? Well, here’s the first of them: a Die Brush Tip! The brush head fits right onto your existing tool, and helps you remove small cut pieces from your dies. When you order the brush head, you’ll also receive two foam mats to go along with it. Great bargain for $12.25!

In Case You Missed It …

Detailed Bands
This bundle leaped out at me right away when I looked at the catalogue. Similar to recent products like Stitched All Around and Dear Doily, it has gorgeous detailing along with beautiful sentiments that combine to make a big impact on your project. It has one major advantage over Dear Doily, too: with bands on the side, you won’t need to fuss with specialty adhesive, but can just use your snail on the wider bands, making this set a must-have for me!

Heirloom Frames Embossing + Die Set
Here’s a new idea: Stampin’ Up! has combined a pair of dies with a pair of embossing folders, so you can create your own embossed frames. What a cool idea! There are some beautiful samples in the catalogue using these products (see pages 4 and 13), which of course co-ordinate with the Woven Heirlooms stamp set – and YES, you can bundle the stamp set with Heirloom Frames for a 10% discount!

And don’t forget these awesome hostess sets, which you can only earn if you host a qualifying party during the catalogue period.
