Recently I traveled to Victoria to attend another wonderful meeting of the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. It’s been a year now that I’ve been a part of this group and I am so grateful to have found it! I have learned SO much from these warm and welcoming women, and I was honoured to be asked to give a presentation at the meeting about the new Demonstrator Business Website (DBWS). In addition to the business presentations, we also enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch, a wonderful selection of Make and Take projects, and of course, the optional card swap. I chose to participate and used the new Parisian Beauty suite to create my card:

Here are the photos of the cards I received in the swap. All of the cards are made using products from the new Spring Mini and/or Sale-a-Bration catalogues. I’ve labeled the photos with the main products used and the names of the makers, and I’ve added a shopping list below so you can get any of the supplies you need to recreate whichever card you fall in love with!

Participating in events like this is just one of the many things I appreciate and enjoy about being a demonstrator. If you’re thinking of joining, this is the perfect time of year to do so – not only will you get your fully-customizable Starter Kit with $165 in product for only $135, but you will also receive a mini paper trimmer, a sample pack of beautiful Designer Series Paper, and a stamp set of your choice – all absolutely FREE! I’m always looking for new members to join my team, so if you’d like to know more about how to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out, let me know! Then we can attend the next demonstrator meeting together!

You all know that I love making and sending handmade cards. Did you know that at this time of year, something truly magical happens …. and I receive many beautiful handmade cards from friends, teammates, and customers? Today I’m going to show off all the handmade cards I received for Christmas this year.

The two cards above are from Angela (left) and Nita (right). I had to include this thank-you card from Nita, even though it’s not technically a Christmas card, because it uses some of my favourite paper from the holiday catalogue, Feels Like Frost. That paper was SO popular that Stampin’ Up! is bringing it back in next year’s holiday catalogue – so if you missed out, don’t worry! It’s only eight months until it comes available again! 😀

This beautiful Z-fold card is from my friend Arvon, who used Perennial Essence DSP from the annual catalogue, and the Frosted Frames dies from the holiday catalogue. What a great combination of products! The silver foil, glimmer paper, and sparkly embellishments really add sparkle to this special card.

I love the way Betina has created a whole scene with the trees, snowflakes, and Jolly Season dies! What a beauty.

The card on the left is from my friend and teammate Claire, who used Feels Like Frost paper along with the Christmas Gleaming bundle to create this silvery, sparkly card. Her silver embossing is just gorgeous! The card on the right is from Liz, using beautiful gold foil and retired paper to create a stunning shaker card.

My friend and fellow demonstrator Madeleine sent me this adorable card using the Merry Moose bundle! This is another product that Stampin’ Up! have promised to bring back next year. I love the way Madeleine layered all the different elements to create this card!

I received this card from the Random Act of Kindness group I belong to, and have lost the name of who sent it. I love that she has created a picturesque scene using only the Frosted Frames dies and the Feels Like Frost paper – great example of how a card does not have to be complicated to be striking!

On the left, the card from my friend Shellie traveled all the way from the frozen north of the Yukon to brighten my day here in Nanaimo. On the right, teammate Vikki’s shaker card is simply stunning!

Friend and teammate Stephanie used the gorgeous Brightly Gleaming DSP to create the card on the left. (That’s another paper Stampin’ Up! is bringing back next year – hooray!) Friend and fellow demonstrator Heather used the amazing Puff Paint and Peaceful Boughs bundle to create the card on the right. I love them both!

Friend Tricia used the Night Before Christmas Memories and More card pack to create this simple, lovely card.

My friend Trudy is known for creating striking cards, and she certainly delivered with this beautiful card (left). On the right, my friend Dawn has used the Most Wonderful Time medley to create this lovely, peaceful card.

I hope you enjoyed looking through my Christmas Card Gallery! I sure had fun receiving all these beauties – if one of them is from you, thank you so much! I’ve added the shopping list below, as some of these products are still available for a couple more days; the holiday catalogue ends on January 2nd, to make room for the Spring Mini and Sale-a-Bration catalogues which start on January 3rd. Look for a new post that day about my top picks from the Spring Mini catalogue!

Happy New Year, and Happy Stampin’!

I promised that I would show you all the amazing cards I received in the Christmas card swap I participated in recently. Here they are! I am so inspired by everyone’s creativity and talent.

I love the combination of different sets and textures for this card by Adrienne. The bare branches really give that wintry feel!

The Feels Like Frost suite is one of my favourites, and I love that Ann has used a fun Z-fold on this gorgeous card. I may just have to CASE this one for my upcoming Christmas class!

How fun is this cute little elf stamp playing Peekaboo? A great combination of products by Barb!

Love the photorealistic images of the Feels Like Frost DSP, and the Layered Leaves embossing folder is a perfect companion!

Another beautiful fancy fold card, this one starring the Toile Tidings DSP and Still Scenes bundle. Did you notice that Caroline spattered white on the front to make it look like snowfall?

This gorgeously coloured cardinal contrasts perfectly with the Feels Like Frost DSP. Stunning!

Love these charming, smiling snowmen from the Snowman Season bundle!

Gold embossing powder makes a perfect companion to the gold foil accents of the Wrapped in Plaid DSP – great bling, Colleen!

The Christmas Crowd stamp is a fun one to colour!

The Snow Front stamp set is a perfect complement to Waterfront. These soft-brush images will help you build a beautiful scene, as shown here by Elke!

Gorgeous cards don’t have to be complicated! A wonderful use of embellishments here by Jean to create a lovely effect!

I searched and searched for this “Jingle” stamp before realizing the letters are die-cut using the Hand-Lettered Prose dies. And I love the wintry look of the Nature’s Roots dies!! What a great way to put products from the annual catalogue to Christmas-y use!

Silver foil sheets are a great companion for the sparkling stars bundle – what a gorgeous card by Madeleine!

Terrific colouring and a fun snowy effect here by MiRan. The Brick and Mortar embossing folder is so handy for holiday projects!

This card is adorable and charming from the outside, but even more exciting on the inside ….

….what a great shadowbox!!

Sharon shows us that the Toile Christmas stamp can be coloured in alternative colours as well. I love the effect with the Puff Paint in the background!

A simple yet striking card by Shirley!

This fun and textured card by Susan features just the right amount of blingy gold foil!

And, here’s the card I created for the swap:

Those pearls are hand-coloured with my Blends markers!

Which one of these cards is your favourite? Drop me a comment below and let me know!

Last weekend I attended another fun and busy meeting of the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! demonstrators for a delightful day full of crafts, friends, and learning. I participated in a Christmas card swap (stay tuned to see the beautiful cards I received!), and as usual there were several make-and-take projects.

This fun gift item by Barb uses the Cup of Christmas bundle and holds two mini Tic-Tac containers. What a great stocking stuffer!

This gorgeous card by Carolyn shows how you can use a non-Christmas stamp set (Good Morning Magnolia) to create a Christmas card. We used aqua painters to create a whitewash on the flowers, then sponge-daubed Cherry Cobbler ink to create the red centres. I’ll be demonstrating this technique in an upcoming video, so stay tuned!

This charming moose card by Erica is so fun and simple! The snow in the background is from Peaceful Boughs.

Susan showed us how to make this terrific gift card holder. Perfect Christmas gift! The Wrapped in Plaid suite makes decorating the outside quick and easy.

Christmas cards in non-traditional colours are one of my favourite things, and this card by Adrienne showcases that perfectly!

This card by Lynne is a great way to show off DSP, and a terrific way to use up scraps. Great layout!

And finally, this detailed card by Karen features a really cool technique – can you guess how the magic is done?

Which one of these cards is your favourite? Drop me a comment below and let me know!

Another meeting of the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! demonstrators group, another awesome collection of swap cards! In case you missed it, I shared all the make and take projects last week.

This time around we got to make and exchange Christmas cards. This year’s holiday catalogue is packed full of awesome goodies, and many of them are on display with today’s swap cards. As always, I’ve labeled the photos with the main products used and the names of the makers – except for cards which weren’t labeled when I received them, so I don’t know who made them!

Did you spot the Cup of Christmas bundle in the holiday catalogue? One of the awesome things about it is that it features reversible stamps! One side of the stamp creates the polka-dot image as shown above, and the other side stamps a striped mug. How fun is that?! Great collection of holiday sentiments with this stamp set as well! I love that Adrienne has finished the card with some gold foil pieces to pick up the gold foil accents on the Wrapped in Plaid paper.

The first of several cards in today’s collection to feature puff paint, a fun new embellishment available in the holiday catalogue, Bonny’s card also features …. no stamping! That’s right, the Santa shape, trees, and even the sentiment are all die cuts. I love that she has used a combination of foil (for Santa and his sleigh) and glimmer paper (sentiment + snowy hill) to create a card with a lot of sparkle, and of course the snow on the trees is a great touch!

Carolyn did a terrific job creating this fun card featuring the Perfectly Plaid suite. The gold foil shapes add a touch of bling to the layout, as does the gold shimmer paint on the tag, which was embossed with the Swirls and Curls folder. And if you look carefully, you’ll see that the red background was also embossed with the Subtle folder – it adds such a great texture to the project!

This card by Crystal was the subject of much discussion at the meeting. How DID she create that fabulous background? Is it DSP? Is it the Birch stamp? Well, Crystal shared with us the how-to: she used her Stamparatus and, yes, the Birch background stamp. She stamped first with white craft ink, let it dry completely, then moved her cardstock 1/16″ down to stamp with Gray Granite ink. The result has so much realism and dimension!

Dianne’s card features several different products: the Christmas Gleaming bundle and Brightly Gleaming paper to make the ornaments, the #Elfie stamp set and blends to create the charming elf, and a die from Stitched Labels on which she stamped the sentiment. And, she used the ever-popular Subtle embossing folder to add texture in the background!

I love Erica’s colour choices here with this adorable little bird from Birds of a Feather stamp set! The stamp set also includes adorable birds to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Valentine’s Day. Check it out on page 50 of your holiday catalogue!

This simple yet striking card by Jean is one of my favourites. Do you see how she scored borders around the outside of the card? What a terrific way to add interest!

Remember I told you that the Hammered Metal embossing folder was awesome? Well, here it is – was I right or what?! Madeleine has also used the Stitched Star dies to create that stunning star with gold foil. No wonder this card won first place!

MC’s charming card features the Holly Jolly bundle with this adorable hand-coloured Santa. How sweet!

I’ve had so many people ask me lately about making shaker cards, and now – Stampin’ Up! has made it easy, with the Snow Globe shaker domes! The stamp set provides beautiful wintery imagery, the co-ordinating dies cut them out, then the acetate domes encase the whole scene. You can add glitter or sequins to complete the effect. Simply stunning!

Another terrific card featuring the Christmas Gleaming suite, including the foil elements and the Hammered Metal embossing folder. Stunner of a card!

I love the way this creator (left anonymous as there was no name on the card) used puff paint on the In The Woods die to create this undeniably Christmasy tree, backed by the Wrapped in Plaid paper and a gorgeous gold-and-green ribbon. In The Woods can be found in your annual catalogue, while the rest of the products are in the holiday catalogue.

And of course you already saw the swap card that I made:

On the weekend I attended another fun and busy meeting of the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, and once again it was a delightful day full of crafts, friends, and learning. I participated in a Christmas card swap (stay tuned to see the beautiful cards I received!), and as usual there were several make-and-take projects – in fact, I even stepped out of my comfort zone to provide one of the projects myself! It was a little nerve-wracking to present in front of experienced demonstrators, but everyone made me feel very welcome, and my project was very well-received. Here it is (if you watched my most recent video, it may look familiar!).

This project uses items from my very favourite suite in the new holiday catalogue, “Christmas Gleaming”. The Designer Series paper is absolutely gorgeous, featuring copper foil accents on every sheet, and I love that the bundle comes with not one but TWO fantastic co-ordinating punches to cut out those ornaments! This bundle makes it so easy to create simple yet stunning cards, perfect for mass production!

And here are the other make-and-take projects I got to make at the meeting!

If you’ve been using Stampin’ Up! for a while, you may remember the now-retired Curvy Keepsakes die. This new Tiny Keepsakes die is the same style, but tinier – a huge advantage, since it now cuts an entire box from one piece of 6×6″ DSP. You can just imagine all the awesome creations to be made with this charming die! This project was created by Barb Tripps, who also chose the Feels Like Frost DSP – one of my favourites. Every piece of this paper features gorgeous photographic images on one side, and stunning silver foil designs on the other side. Pretty sure I’m going to need to order two packs of this, so I don’t need to choose between these two gorgeous sides!

Karen from Parksville walked us through how to do some amazing heat-embossing, waterwash painting, and other inking and colouring techniques for this card. I think mine turned out pretty well for a first try, and I’m excited to practice these techniques more!

Miran Briggs always seems to have an awesome 3D gift item for her make and take. I love this adorable little post-it note holder using the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper!

The Perennial Essence DSP is one of the most popular in the catalogue, and this pocket card by Lynne Williams shows it off beautifully. To finish the flower, I coloured a pearl with my Blackberry Bliss Blends marker.

Sue Philip created this awesome accordion-fold pop-up card starring the new Snowman Season bundle. The snowman stamps and builder punch are just too cute, and I’m in love with the colour combination of Coastal Cabana and Real Red on the Let it Snow Designer Series Paper!

Which one of these cards is your favourite? Drop me a comment below and let me know!
