Tutorial: Pyramid Card

I was really surprised to learn just how easy these impressive pyramid cards are to make – and, they even fit in one of our envelopes! The only special tool you need is a pair of Velcro dots.

Start with 3 squares of Designer Series Paper, cut to 4×4″. These can be three different designs, all the same design, or whatever you like. I cut mine all from the same paper, then flipped one square over so it was easier to see for the tutorial.

Score each of your squares diagonally, and burnish the folds. Lay one of your squares with the scoreline pointing up and down, as shown below. Think of the top corner of this piece as “North”.

Line up the other two DSP squares so that their scorelines are pointing diagonally towards “North”.

Without changing the orientation of the squares, slide the right one behind the centre one. Leave the left one on top of the centre one. Apply adhesive to attach the three pieces together.

From the back, your creation now looks like this. Pop on a Velcro dot, as shown below.

This photo shows how your pyramid will attach; the blue triangle is going to slide alongside the dotted triangle, and the Velcro dots will attach together.

This is how it looks from the front. For some reason it reminds me of the Star Trek logo …

Another view of the pyramid.

You can fold it flat like this to fit in an envelope.

Now it’s time to decorate! The trick is that your decorations have to be small enough to fit on one face of the pyramid. If the decorations hang over the sides, you may not be able to fold it flat to fit in an envelope.

Here’s the completed card!
