And here’s a sneak peek at one of the cards we’ll be making. Take a look at the two cards below: the one on the left is just fine, featuring a terrific bold sentiment and gorgeous rainbow glimmer paper. But I felt like it could be … well …. MORE ridiculously awesome! So I played around with the glimmer paper, combining the scrappy strips technique and the herringbone technique to turn up the awesomeness on this card. I’m super pleased with how it came together! Remember, those who subscribe to the September Creativity to Go will get all the supplies, products, and tutorials to make this card AND four more! How ridiculously awesome is that?!

Thanks for reading – and Happy Stampin’!

I’m very happy to be participating in a blog hop with fellow Canadian demonstrator Stefanie Pletscher, The Crafty Medic. The theme for the hop is PRIDE!

This is an important topic for me and my family, as we strive to be good allies and uphold the rights of all – regardless of skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, or any other factor. This past month has shown all of us that we need to do more: not just show acceptance and tolerance, but stand up to bigotry and prejudice in al its forms. My family and I will keep working toward this goal, now and always.

My daughter Gwen (12) absolutely loves rainbows, so I enlisted her help in creating this card. I blogged here about how to create a rainbow background just a few months ago, but I knew Gwen would take it in a whole different direction … and she didn’t disappoint! She is a true artist. Just look at all the amazing backgrounds she created… no two are the same!

All I had to do was choose one, and overlay the die-cut from Detailed Hearts on top of it for a bold Pride card.

I’m not even sure this card needs a sentiment – it seems to have a message on its own, doesn’t it?

Warning for those who would like to try the rainbow background technique: it will stain your bone folder. But then again, if you’re a rainbow fan like Gwen and me, you might just find that to be a benefit!

Now be sure to click the links below and visit the other blogs to see more wonderful Pride projects! Happy Stampin’!

It’s easy as can be to create striking rainbow backgrounds for your cards. All you need are some ink refills, a bone folder, and a baby wipe!

Wrap the baby wipe around the bone folder and then add  6-8 drops of each colour ink refill to the wipe, creating five spots of colour. The spots will bleed into each other as they soak into the wipe.

Slide the bone folder across your cardstock to create rainbow-coloured stripes.

Experiment with different patterns and orientations.

If you’re left with any blank spots at the edges, you can trim the cardstock, or fill in with Blends or blender pen.

And finally, finish your card as desired.

Once you’ve made a card with this technique, be sure to share a photo in the comments below! I love to see your creations!

Happy Stampin’!
