Want to make sure you’re on my list to receive a new annual catalogue? Comment below or email me. And if your wish list is as long as your arm, time to join my team and get all those goodies at a discount! Plus we can attend the next OnStage event together!
As I promised last week, I want to show you all the cards I received from OnStage in Vancouver. I didn’t participate in any organized swaps, just floor swaps with the two designs I’d created (read more about them here). I was a little nervous that people wouldn’t like my swaps, but not a single person refused to swap with me, and many gave me kind comments and encouragement 🙂 Turns out that most of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators are pretty terrific people! 😀
So, here are all the swaps I received. I’ve labeled the photos with the main products used and the names of the makers – although for several of the cards, they were not labeled when I received them, so I don’t know who made them!
The demonstrators I met at this event were warm, welcoming, and supportive and I can’t wait till the next get-together. If you’d like to join in at events like this, join my team and we can go to the next event together! Being a demonstrator is awesome – you get to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out. If you’re interested or have questions, let me know!
Hope you enjoy the photos! If these fabulous cards inspire you to order any of the products shown, you can shop 24/7 at my online store. And hurry, because some of these products are retiring soon and are only available while supplies last! Don’t forget to use the current hostess code (over on the right-hand side of my website) to get a free gift from me as well! Happy Stampin’!
This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to attend OnStage and CentreStage in Vancouver, BC. It was so energizing to be in a room full of hundreds of demonstrators and be the first ones to receive the brand new annual catalogue, watch product demonstrations, learn about exciting new ways to connect with our teams and customers, and of course, do some hands-on make and take projects using brand new products!
I am so excited about this stunning Bird Ballad suite. The Designer Series Paper was designed in black and white, and then coloured by artists using our own Stampin’ Blends before being digitized and produced for our catalogue. It just goes to show what gorgeousness you can create with the Blends! I was able to quickly and easily colour the stamped image of the birds on the branch to complement the beautiful paper. I even got to bring home some of the Blends we used, and a spool of that lovely scalloped lace trim!
The Come Sail Away suite is also amazing. There’s so many wonderful images and sentiments suitable for masculine cards and projects! I love the texture of the lighthouse stamp we used here – it’s almost like a Distinktive stamp – and the charming little anchor embellishment.
Follow Your Art is a totally irresistible suite. There’s a button-themed embossing folder, a stamp set and thinlit bundle, and of course some adorable Designer Series Paper that features crafting images both specific to Stampin’ Up! (like ink refillers, ribbon, twine, and scissors) and covering other crafting areas (like glue guns, paintbrushes, and buttons). The result is inspiring to any kind of crafter!
This beautiful project is one that came directly out of May’s Paper Pumpkin kit, “Hugs From Shelli”. Shelli Gardner is the Co-founder of Stampin’ Up!, and she designed this kit specifically to include her favourite styles and images. Like all Paper Pumpkin kits, it’s very easy to put together, even for the beginning crafter – and an avid crafter could easily step up the projects to make them really pop. This kit will create 12 mailable cards with coordinating envelopes, and of course will come with an exclusive stamp set. Oh, and best of all? While Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are only available in North America, this kit will be available as a regular order item to all Stampin’ Up! markets! So exciting for our overseas friends!
Can you tell that this suite was inspired by Monet’s art? The soft colours and brushstroke textures are truly lovely. The pink flowers you see were punched out of Petal Pink vellum cardstock with the new Perennial Flower punch, and embellished with self-adhesive embellishments called “Floral Centres”.
Which of these suites are you most excited to play with? Leave a comment below and let me know! The new catalogue will be available soon, so let me know if you’d like to receive one!
Be sure to check back next week when I’ll be sharing photos of all the swap cards I received at the event!
What does it cost to join Stampin’ Up! ? In Canada, a Starter Kit is $135 and contains $165 in product – because you’ll get a 20% discount right away!
What’s in the Starter Kit? Whatever you want! Choose paper, inkpads, cardstock, stamps, tools, embellishments, kits – whatever your heart desires, up to $165. When your Starter Kit arrives, it will also have current catalogues, order forms, and other business resources to get you started!
What are the perks of being a demonstrator? As mentioned above, you’ll get a 20% discount right away, and you can earn a 25% discount when your sales reach a certain target. In addition, you can … – See catalogues and promotions before anyone else – Order new products before they’re released to the public – Access online and print resources to help you build your crafting skills and business strategies – Earn bulk discounts, flex points, and other incentives throughout the year – Participate in a free annual incentive trip (this year’s destination is the Eastern Caribbean!) – Join an exclusive Facebook group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world, where we share ideas, inspiration, business tips, and everything else to do with being a demonstrator – Attend exclusive in-person events to meet other demonstrators, learn from top crafters and leaders, and receive free products – Build your business your way, and spend time doing what you already love: crafting! – Share your love of Stampin’ Up!’s high-quality products, with the knowledge that they stand behind their product and their demonstrators – Work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out!
What’s it like being on your team? I love to promote a fun, supportive atmosphere with my team. I believe in celebrating milestones, learning together, and helping each other whenever possible. But don’t take my word for it … here’s what some of my teammates have to say:
We hold team meetings approximately every second month, where we get together to share our successes, find answers to our questions, and strategize about the upcoming months. I’m also available via text, email, and messenger when questions pop up in between meetings, and we have a closed Facebook group for our team, where I share files and information.
Do I have to sell the products to friends/family? No, selling is not mandatory. In order to maintain your demonstratorship, there is a quarterly minimum of 300 CSV (more on that term below). That’s about $100/month. Many people are able to spend enough to maintain their demonstratorship without selling to anyone else – they call themselves “hobby demos”. If you do choose to sell, the 20-25% commission you earn on customer purchases will handily support your crafting habits – and you can meet your minimum with 1-2 workshops per quarter.
What if I decide I don’t like being a demonstrator? No harm done! I encourage anyone who might be interested to buy the starter kit, hold a class or two (with my help, if you like), and see what you think. By the time you’ve reached the end of your first three months, you’ll know whether you want to keep going. If not, enjoy all the wonderful discounted products you purchased – there is no need to return anything, or pay any additional fees to Stampin’ Up!.
I’m part of your monthly Stampers’ Club. What happens if I become a demonstrator? If you join my team as a demonstrator, you’ll still need to finish out the year in the monthly hostess club – however, I will honour your discount on all your club purchases, so your monthly purchase commitment will decrease 🙂 I have one team member who continues to participate in my club, for a fun social evening as well as crafty inspiration! Another option is to “buy” your remaining months in the club. The monthly commitment is $20, so you would make a one-time payment to me of $16 ($20 less your 20% discount) multiplied by the number of months you have left in the club.
What does CSV mean? CSV is the system that Stampin’ Up !uses to convert retail price to local currency. This allows them to say that all demonstrators – no matter what country they are in – must reach the quarterly minimum of 300 CSV.
“Whenever sales are mentioned in the Compensation Plan, they won’t be shown in local currency. In order to make our compensation plan applicable to all markets, regardless of currency, we use a common measurement: commissionable sales volume or CSV. CSV is a measurement unit by which sales are tracked. Our ordering systems and reports convert your local currency to CSV automatically.”
So your minimum quarterly target is not $300 CAD; it’s 300 CSV.
The CSV conversion amounts are assessed once a year based on the global currency rates and may shift up or down slightly; right now, 300 CSV = $394.50.
If you order $394.50 in product, the amount you pay will change slightly: $394.50 retail + $39.45 shipping + $40.24 tax – $78.90 discount = $395.29 total due.
Stampin’ Rewards come into play as well. In this example, you would earn $47.34 in free product. And as an additional perk, there are no shipping costs on Stampin’ Rewards! So once you choose your free product, you’ve got $440 worth of product for a $375 price tag (including shipping and tax). And this is all based on the scenario of making the entire order yourself without any friends or customers contributing. If you decide to hold classes, even small classes every few months – or merely have a few select friends get together for an informal crafting night and share an order – you can easily make your minimums and start to make a profit as well! Any order above $200 would earn free rewards, and any order above $550 would earn you a half-price product.
When is the best time to join? The short answer is – whenever you’re ready!! A great time to join is anytime YOU are the party hostess – whether through a party you plan and host yourself, or when it’s your hostess month in the monthly club. Every dollar in party sales increases your hostess rewards, and you can use those rewards to pay for your Starter Kit – so you could get your kit for even less than $135!
Who should join? In all honesty – I truly think that anyone who enjoys using Stampin’ Up! products and has $135 to spend should take the opportunity to become a demonstrator. There is no downside – you get an awesome discount and other perks right away, and if you decide it’s not for you, you still get to keep and enjoy all the fabulous products you bought!
I want to understand ALL the nitty-gritty details before joining. Show me the fine print! No problem! Here’s the Compensation Plan Overview.
I have more questions …. If you’d like to know more about how to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out, Email me and let’s chat. I want to make sure you have all the info you need to make the right decision!
