What does it cost to join Stampin’ Up! ?
In Canada, a Starter Kit is $135 and contains $165 in product – because you’ll get a 20% discount right away!

What’s in the Starter Kit?
Whatever you want! Choose paper, inkpads, cardstock, stamps, tools, embellishments, kits – whatever your heart desires, up to $165. When your Starter Kit arrives, it will also have current catalogues, order forms, and other business resources to get you started!

What are the perks of being a demonstrator?
As mentioned above, you’ll get a 20% discount right away, and you can earn a 25% discount when your sales reach a certain target. In addition, you can …
– See catalogues and promotions before anyone else
– Order new products before they’re released to the public
– Access online and print resources to help you build your crafting skills and business strategies
– Earn bulk discounts, flex points, and other incentives throughout the year
– Participate in a free annual incentive trip (this year’s destination is Maui!)
– Join an exclusive Facebook group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world, where we share ideas, inspiration, business tips, and everything else to do with being a demonstrator
– Attend exclusive in-person events to meet other demonstrators, learn from top crafters and leaders, and receive free products
– Build your business your way, and spend time doing what you already love: crafting!
– Share your love of Stampin’ Up!’s high-quality products, with the knowledge that they stand behind their product and their demonstrators
– Work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out!

And speaking of awesome in-person events …. did you hear that the next Stampin’ Up! convention (OnStage Local) is being held in Vancouver, BC? My team is going, hope you will join us!

What’s it like being on your team?
I love to promote a fun, supportive atmosphere with my team. I believe in celebrating milestones, learning together, and helping each other whenever possible. But don’t take my word for it … here’s what some of my teammates have to say:

We hold team meetings approximately every second month, where we get together to share our successes, find answers to our questions, and strategize about the upcoming months. I’m also available via text, email, and messenger when questions pop up in between meetings, and we have a closed Facebook group for our team, where I share files and information.

Do I have to sell the products to friends/family?
No, selling is not mandatory. In order to maintain your demonstratorship, there is a quarterly minimum of 300 CSV (more on that term below). That’s about $100/month. Many people are able to spend enough to maintain their demonstratorship without selling to anyone else – they call themselves “hobby demos”. If you do choose to sell, the 20-25% commission you earn on customer purchases will handily support your crafting habits – and you can meet your minimum with 1-2 workshops per quarter.

What if I decide I don’t like being a demonstrator?
No harm done! I encourage anyone who might be interested to buy the starter kit, hold a class or two (with my help, if you like), and see what you think. By the time you’ve reached the end of your first three months, you’ll know whether you want to keep going. If not, enjoy all the wonderful discounted products you purchased – there is no need to return anything, or pay any additional fees to Stampin’ Up!.

I’m part of your monthly Stampers’ Club. What happens if I become a demonstrator?
If you join my team as a demonstrator, you’ll still need to finish out the year in the monthly hostess club – however, I will honour your discount on all your club purchases, so your monthly purchase commitment will decrease 🙂 I have one team member who continues to participate in my club, for a fun social evening as well as crafty inspiration! Another option is to “buy” your remaining months in the club. The monthly commitment is $20, so you would make a one-time payment to me of $16 ($20 less your 20% discount) multiplied by the number of months you have left in the club.

What does CSV mean?
CSV is the system that Stampin’ Up !uses to convert retail price to local currency. This allows them to say that all demonstrators – no matter what country they are in – must reach the quarterly minimum of 300 CSV.

“Whenever sales are mentioned in the Compensation Plan, they won’t be shown in local currency. In order to make our compensation plan applicable to all markets, regardless of currency, we use a common measurement: commissionable sales volume or CSV. CSV is a measurement unit by which sales are tracked. Our ordering systems and reports convert your local currency to CSV automatically.”

So your minimum quarterly target is not $300 CAD; it’s 300 CSV.

The CSV conversion amounts are assessed once a year based on the global currency rates and may shift up or down slightly; right now, 300 CSV = $394.50.

If you order $394.50 in product, the amount you pay will change slightly:
$394.50 retail
+ $39.45 shipping
+ $40.24 tax
– $78.90 discount
= $395.29 total due.

Stampin’ Rewards come into play as well. In this example, you would earn $47.34 in free product. And as an additional perk, there are no shipping costs on Stampin’ Rewards! So once you choose your free product, you’ve got $440 worth of product for a $375 price tag (including shipping and tax). And this is all based on the scenario of making the entire order yourself without any friends or customers contributing. If you decide to hold classes, even small classes every few months – or merely have a few select friends get together for an informal crafting night and share an order – you can easily make your minimums and start to make a profit as well! Any order above $200 would earn free rewards, and any order above $550 would earn you a half-price product.

When is the best time to join?
Sale-a-Bration (January through March) is always a great time to join, as there will be a fantastic “signing bonus” available to new demonstrators. This year, new demonstrators will receive an additional $60 in free product of their choice when they join – a total of $225 in products for only $135. Additionally, you can choose to include the exclusive Craft and Carry Tote (retail value $68) for $40. This amazingly versatile tote is exclusively available to new demonstrators until March 31st!

Another great time to join is anytime YOU are the party hostess – whether through a party you plan and host yourself, or when it’s your hostess month in the monthly club. Every dollar in party sales increases your hostess rewards, and you can use those rewards to pay for your Starter Kit – so you could get your kit for even less than $135!

Who should join?
In all honesty – I truly think that anyone who enjoys using Stampin’ Up! products and has $135 to spend should take the opportunity to become a demonstrator. There is no downside – you get an awesome discount and other perks right away, and if you decide it’s not for you, you still get to keep and enjoy all the fabulous products you bought!

I want to understand ALL the nitty-gritty details before joining. Show me the fine print!
No problem! Here’s the Compensation Plan Overview.

After a long summer break, my team planned to get together in mid-September to re-connect, discuss holiday catalogue strategies, and try out the new Take Your Pick tool. (It’s awesome!) September is a tough month to schedule, as everyone has so many new routines starting up again, so there were only two of us who managed to meet in person, but fun was had nonetheless!

The swap card theme this month was to use a product that was new in either the annual catalogue or the holiday catalogue. Our new teammate, Vikki, who lives about a two-hour drive away from the rest of us, sent her swap cards by mail, and I’m so glad she did because they were stunning. Just look at how many layers are on this gorgeous, full-size card!

Vikki used one of the images from the fantastically versatile set Lovely as a Tree for her focal image, and the Starlight thinlits dies to make the beautiful glimmer paper star to embellish. And of course, the Softly Falling embossing folder makes a perfect background for your holiday cards and projects.

She even decorated the inside!

swap4

Having a non-local team member is new to me, and I’m doing my best to make sure Vikki feels as included and connected as my local teammates do. Thank goodness for technology like FaceTime, Skype, and Messenger to help us connect quickly and share ideas!

Claire brought these beautiful decorated pillow boxes. These boxes are available in the annual catalogue in a set of ten, and are ready to assemble and decorate to your taste. Claire did an amazing job, using Petal Promenade paper, the Sweet Storybook bundle, and the Detailed Trio punch. Turns out the package is the perfect size (5 x 3″) to hold a yummy Kashi granola bar – what a perfect treat!

swap3

For my swap card, I used the Share What You Love suite, one of my two favourite suites from the annual catalogue. I started with the Lovely Floral embossing folder as my focal point, sponged with white ink to highlight the embossed image, then added stamped images from the Love What You Do stamp set.

One of my team members recently promoted to Silver, and I have a special gift to give her as a congratulations – but she wasn’t able to attend the meeting, so I’ll have to wait to share that with you another time! I’m so proud of her for reaching this goal at the same time as she and her partner plan a wedding, buy a house, and adopt a new dog into their family! She gets more done in a day than most people do in a week – what a champ!

I’m always looking for new members to join my team! If you’d like to know more about how to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out, let me know!

I know I just posted team meeting swap cards recently … that’s because I was so behind on my blog posting! I’m trying to stay more on top of it these days. Our May team meeting was so much fun! I got to meet a new teammate, Lydia, who is part of Christina’s downline. It was great to spend some time with her and get to know her a little. We missed Christina, who couldn’t join us, but we made sure that we put aside a swap card and some handouts for Lydia to pass on to her.

Here’s the swap card that I gave out. I wanted to use the True Gentleman DSP (just LOVE this paper …. sadly, it’s now retired) and a new fun fold I’d just discovered. It’s a diagonal easel fold card, but with a variation; I’ll be sure to share a tutorial on it soon. It’s very simple and very effective!

Claire gave out a stunning butterfly card using the Beautiful Day stamp set and some products from the gorgeous new Share What You Love suite. I don’t know if you can tell from the photo that the butterfly is stamped on vellum and coloured in with markers to create a stained glass effect. And I love the composition she created by cutting a doily in half! Lovely job as always, Claire!

After taking care of the business part of our meeting, we got to do some stamping … in fact, a lot of stamping! I’d had the bright idea (?) of printing out new charts to show the full list of Stampin’ Up! colours, and all three of us chose a favourite stamp and tried out ALL of my inkpads to fill in the sheets for ourselves. The completed sheets make a terrific guide for my crafting studio! It sure highlighted for me that I need to complete my collection and buy the final four Neutrals that I am missing!

And no team meeting would be complete without recognition! Both Claire and Christina have now reached their 6-month milestones, so I gave each of them a card using a really cool new fold I just learned (and yes, tutorial will follow!) Remember that fabulous Springtime Foil paper that was available during Sale-a-Bration? I have a little bit left, and made good use of it here!

I’m always looking for new members to join my team! If you’d like to know more about how to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out, let me know!

I’m so behind in sharing my team meeting swap cards … our last meeting was over a month ago! Life has been keeping me very busy with the play I’ve been a part of, as well as the new job I started in March. I feel like life is finally starting to swing back towards normal!

This was my contribution for the month. I love a good monochromatic card! These beauties used two Sale-a-Bration products: Bubble and Fizz Designer Series Paper, and the Happy Wishes stamp set. I also used my Stamparatus to line up the sentiment stamps perfectly!

Christina hosted our team meeting, and as it was close to Easter, she gave us all these cute little goodie bags of Easter eggs held in a box made with the Wood Crate Framelits Dies. Can you imagine how cute these would look with the Wood Textures paper, or embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder?

Claire made these beautiful cards with the Naturally Eclectic DSP and a fun fold that’s really simple to do. Just look what happens when you open up that folded diamond on the front of the card – a peekaboo surprise!

In addition to the charming little wood crates, Christina also gave us these stunning butterfly cards. She used the Beautiful Day stamp set and heat-embossing to make it really shine. What a great technique!

We had a great time at our team meeting discussing our Sale-a-Bration strategies, planning our next few months (including the new annual catalogue launch), and even learning a new fancy fold technique. Stay tuned, as I’ll be sharing that fancy fold tutorial here soon!

I’m always looking for new members to join my team! If you’d like to know more about how to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out, let me know!

Product List

I love celebrating special milestones with my team! Stampin’ Up! offers new demonstrators a wonderful incentive program called Quick Start. If you hit certain goals within your first three and six months, you earn terrific rewards. I am overjoyed (though not terribly surprised) that both my new team members hit their six-month targets within their first three months! So at our most recent team meeting, I got to present each of them with a celebratory gift!

I just love this adorable little piggy and her charming, self-assured smile. This will make a great decoration for the craft room, don’t you think? The colouring on the piggy is actually my first try with the new Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I bought just the one pair so far, but I’m planning to get the whole set as a half-price item when I get to be club hostess next month.

I got to celebrate a milestone too! And what’s almost as good as a milestone celebrated with a handmade craft? A milestone celebrated with jewelry!! First, here’s the beautiful 30th anniversary pin that all demonstrators will receive this year. It’s amazing to think that Stampin’ Up! has been around for thirty years – it’s also their 15th anniversary in Canada this year!

And I was even more excited about this one – my Silver title necklace! I got this necklace absolutely free in recognition of my recent title advancement. I can’t wait to wear it to my next cardmaking workshop and show it off to everyone! It is so pretty in person!!

Here are the swap cards from our meeting. First, my square sampler card using Whole Lot of Lovely designer series paper and the Lovely Words thinlit dies. I just posted a tutorial for this card on my monthly email newsletter – if you’re not subscribed yet, send me an email and I’ll add you to the list!
Christina’s card uses the charming and funny Half Full stamp set and the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, which I have added to my wishlist after seeing so many great uses of this folder!

Claire wowed us with her decorated notecard box and narrow notecards, both decorated with the stunning Springtime Foils designer series paper. Can you see the shimmer of the copper foil?

This paper is available FREE with qualifying purchase, but only until the end of March! Contact me now to place your order, or shop online and use the hostess code below to get a free gift from me.

Have you ever thought about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator? I’d love to chat with you! Claire and Christina can tell you that our team meetings are fun, supportive, and informative. Hurry as this bonus is only available until the end of March!

How do you celebrate milestones? Do you have a special card or craft project to share? Comment below, I love to see your creations!

Happy Stampin’!

I got to host my first business meeting last week! I have two new teammates, and it was so fun to get together and share strategies and advice as a group. I also invited each member to make two swap cards using one or more products from the Occasions or Sale-a-Bration catalogues. Swap cards are a great way to get inspired, and it’s wonderful to be able to display products that you may not have yourself, at your classes.

Here’s the swap card I created, using the Waterfront stamp set. This was my first time playing with this set, and I can tell that I am going to get a lot of use out of it! I’m already thinking ahead to creating some masculine birthday cards, as well as friendship/support cards, and maybe some sympathy cards …. I think this set will even make good Christmas cards!

I love the sentiments in this set as well. “Friends make the good times better” definitely describes how I feel about my team. I’m excited to see what we will accomplish together!

Christina wowed us with her Barn Door Slider card. There are so many beautiful details on this card, and sliding out the “door” to reveal the hidden sentiment really adds an element of fun! I love the way she used the Balloon Celebration stamp set to create the dandelion puff!

Claire used the beautiful Amazing You stamp set and Celebrate You thinlits to create this breathtaking card in a colour combination I just love! Both these products are available free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration, which runs until March 31st. She also decorated the inside of the card and the envelope, just to add that extra touch!

Wondering how she created that “JOY” at the bottom left of the card? It’s the “YOU” from the thinlit set, flipped back-to-front, and with part of the ‘u’ trimmed to create a J! How clever!

Sale-a-Bration is a great time to become a demo, as you will get two extra stamp kits in your starter kit! That’s up to a $297 value for just $135!

With so many basic items provided for you, you’ll be able to spend your Starter Kit dollars on things like your favourite stamp sets and accessories! I haven’t seen such an awesome recruiting bonus before, so don’t miss this one!
