Tutorial: Bridge Fold Card

I’ve wanted to make a Bridge Card for a long time, and all the beautiful tree images in the Beauty of the Earth suite seemed like the perfect fit! This fun fold card has a lot of WOW but is awfully simple to make. Read on to learn how!

Cut a cardbase of 4.25 x 8″, and score along each short side at 1.25 and 2.5″.
Cut these additional pieces of cardstock:
Two pieces 2.75 x 4” and one 1.25 x 5.5″, all same colour
White cardstock, 2.5 x 3.75″

Cut the following pieces of Designer Series Paper:
four pieces 1 x 4″
1 strip 1 x 5.25”
2.5 x 3.75”

Burnish all the folds on your cardbase.

Attach cardstock and DSP as shown below.

The additional cardstock mat with white cardstock goes on the back for you to write on.

If you would like to stamp on your centre panel, or your bridge piece, do so before attaching.

Fold the left side of the card so that the outer flap is facing up. Attach the bridge piece to the front panel of that flap ONLY.

Leaving the right side of the card unfolded, attach the right end of the bridge to the last panel on the right. The bridge should be attached at the left and right ends only.

This card still fits in one of our usual envelopes:

Now the fun part: decorate as desired!

Happy Stampin’!

Product Spotlight: A Good Man

Today I’m featuring the stamp set “A Good Man”. This stamp set is perfect for masculine cards: Father’s Day, birthdays, retirement, any other occasion you need a masculine card for – and it’s the featured product in my upcoming Creativity to Go class. If you register for that class you’ll receive this stamp set PLUS all the supplies and tutorials to make five cards with your new stamp set – so, you’ll be all set for Father’s Day and all those other moments! You’ll also get access to an optional Zoom crafting class where we’ll meet and assemble the cards. Anyone in Canada is welcome to subscribe by following this link – the registration deadline is May 10th.

Many of us feel like masculine cards are a challenge, but I think that’s because we don’t have the right tools in hand to create for the masculine people in our lives. If we always gravitate towards flowers and swirly fonts, it’s no surprise that we get stuck when Father’s Day rolls around! This class will change that for you, giving you not only a wonderful set of stamps with terrific images and loving sentiments … not only a class to create five great masculine cards … but also confidence to continue creating with your new stamp set all throughout the year!

When you subscribe to Creativity to Go, you get everything you need to complete the cards: all the paper and cardstocks will be cut, punched, scored, or embossed as needed, and envelopes and embellishments are included. You just need to add your own ink and adhesive! If you don’t have any on hand, I’d be happy to help you with recommendations.

Another thing that can come in handy with this stamp set is a good set of colouring tools. Whether you prefer markers, Blends, or watercolour pencils is up to you; again, I’m happy to discuss your preferences and help you figure out what would work best for you. As an example, the card above is coloured with Blends; the one below is coloured with watercolour pencils. Which look do you prefer?

Did you catch my video earlier this week? I was using the same stamp set then too, along with another favourite, “Waterfront”, to create this card! If you missed the video, click here to check it out!

Now that you’ve seen a few projects with this wonderful stamp set, I hope you’ll join me for the May Creativity to Go class. Remember, for just $41 you’ll receive the stamp set and prepared supplies and tutorials to make five masculine cards!

Tutorial: Book Fold Card

This is another terrific card fold I learned from my teammate Dianna! I love how simple yet striking it is. To create this card, I used some items from the upcoming annual catalogue, which should be landing in your mailbox soon! I hope you enjoy this sneak peek at the Beauty of Friendship bundle and the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper – you’ll be able to order these items starting May 4th!

Here are the measurements:
Cardbase: 4.25 x 11, scored at 4.25 & 5.5″
Cardstock mats: 4 x 4 and 4 x 1″
DSP: 3.75 x 3.75 and 3.75 x 0.75:
White insert: 4 x 4″

You’ll also need a length of ribbon.

Burnish the folds on your cardbase, and attach your DSP pieces to the cardstock mats.

Attach your panels to your cardbase.

Wrap your ribbon vertically around the smaller panel, and attach to the inside of the card as shown below.

Add Tear and Tape adhesive to the back of the small panel as shown below.

Peel off the backing of the Tear and Tape, and press the small panel so that it attaches to the back of the cardbase. This makes your card look like a book!

Add a knot or bow to your ribbon if desired.

Now decorate the white panel, and put on the inside of your card.

And decorate the outside as desired.
