Tutorial: DSP Accordion Card

Posted on: March 18, 2021

I came across this fancy fold online recently and had to try it out. It is *perfect* for using up your retired or retiring Designer Series Papers, because you will get to use a full sheet of 12×12″ paper to make two cards – and get to see both sides of the beautiful paper, to boot!

Start by cutting 1″ off your DSP sheet, so that it measures 12 x 11″ (if your DSP has a ‘right side up’, cut the inch off the top or bottom, not the sides).

Now score your DSP along the short side at 2, 4, 8, and 10″.

Next, cut your DSP along the long side at 5.5″ so you are left with two pieces, each measuring 5.5 x 12″.  Follow the steps below to turn each piece into a card.

Make the following marks with a pencil:
– On each side, 1″ up from the bottom
-At the top of the two centre scorelines

Line up each pair of pencil marks in your trimmer, and trim diagonally.

Burnish all your scorelines so your DSP can stand up on its own, as shown below.

All that’s left to do is add a white cardstock insert (4 x 5.25″) to the centre, and decorate the outside of your card as desired.

Here are some more cards I’ve made with this fold!

Do you have a favourite fun fold to use up your DSP stash? Share them in the comments below! I love to see your creations!

Happy Stampin’!
