I saw this Double Gatefold card on one of the Facebook groups I belong to, and I loved it so much I had to try it myself! It’s so easy to do and it makes a huge impression. Thanks to demonstrator Dana Sullivan for the inspiration!
You’ll need two pieces of cardstock, both the same colour (I used Shaded Spruce).
Cardbase: 5.5 x 11″
Belly Band: 1 x 11″
You’ll also need a white insert cut to 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″.
Then you’ll need several pieces of Designer Series Paper (I used Forever Greenery).
Two matching pieces measuring: 1-1/8” x 5-3/8”
Two matching pieces measuring: 2” x 5-3/8”
And another two matching pieces measuring: 2” x 5-3/8”
Score your cardbase at 1-1/4”, 3-3/8”, 7-5/8”, and 9-3/4”. Burnish all your folds.
Add your Designer Series Paper strips, one pair at a time. Your narrowest pair will go on the outermost edges.
Flip the cardbase over to add the final pair of DSP strips. This is the back of the card, but it will be visible from the front when folded.
Flip the cardbase back to original position, and add the white insert. Stamp an image and/or sentiment if desired. (The stamped image below is from Lovely You.)
Use the long narrow strip of cardstock to create a belly band. The ends will overlap in the front.
Decorate the belly band as desired to hide the seam. (I used the Forever Gold laser-cut paper, a punched circle, and a sentiment from Beautiful World).
This is the project we did at our very first Mystery Stamping event a few weeks ago! Mystery Stamping is super fun; everyone prepares supplies according to provided measurements, and then I guide the group through creating a card via a group Zoom call. It’s a ‘mystery’ because you don’t know until the end what the finished project will be … and it’s extra fun because everyone uses different papers, stamps, etc. and we get to see so many different interpretations of the same project. Here’s a screenshot of our group projects at the end of our Zoom call:
I hope you’ll join us for our next Mystery Stamping event! Watch this page for more details in October!
