August-December Mini Catalogue: Laura’s Top Picks

Posted on: August 6, 2020

The new mini catalogue is now live! Previously known as the holiday catalogue, this gorgeous book features 83 pages of wonderful co-ordinating products to help make your holiday crafting easy and fun! Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Hanukkah – even Valentine’s Day makes a sneak appearance. I’m so excited that we get to enjoy these products for a full five months – and next year, the mini catalogue will go for six full months! Yippee!

Here are some of my top picks from this fun new catalogue. Will this help you narrow down your wish list, or perhaps add a few more items you hadn’t considered?

Best Item for BeginnersJoyful Holly, p. 34
For this category, I always want to pick a product that will allow a beginner to get crafting right away. Joyful Holly is perfect for this! The large holly stamps allow you to create interesting graphics quickly and easily, and the two included sentiments are all you need to make a big stack of holiday cards. Beautiful and simple!

Best Sentiment Stamp SetChristmas Means More, p. 29
I’m a sucker for a Christmas movie, and these stamps feature quotes from some of my all-time favourites! Big bold sentiments like this help you make a stack of holiday cards quickly and easily. A must-have!

Best Graphic Stamp SetLife is Beautiful, p. 51
This stunning Distinktive stamp set was inspired by Million Sales Achiever Lee Ann Greff, and you can use it all year round to celebrate all the different seasons of life. The fun textured images bring so much life to your project – this is a stamp set with loads of versatility!

Best EmbellishmentGlitter Star Ornaments, p. 9 or Beaded Pearls, p. 15
Christmas is all about the bling, and these two sparkly, luxe embellishments definitely bring the bling!

Best Designer Series PaperPoinsettia Place, p. 15
This elegant paper features traditional holiday colours in classic floral themes. Perfect for all your holiday crafting, from cards to decor to gift packaging! Don’t miss the vellum/flocked specialty paper and sheer Real Red ribbon on the same page, as well.

Honourable MentionTrimming the Town, p. 25
Where Poinsettia Place is elegant and lush, Trimming the Town is whimsical and charming. Featuring adorable wintry images of a mountainside town and delightful background images, this paper will meet all your holiday needs! There’s even a sheet that’s made up entirely of holiday sentiments, that you can cut up for use on your cards and projects!

Best Punch BundleGift Wrapped, p. 12
This sweet little bundle will help you with gift packaging, treat boxes, cards – even ornaments or home decor items! I love the stylishness of the stamp images, and am entranced with the vintage font used in the sentiments. Fabulous, affordable bundle at $42.25!

Best Die BundleIn the Pines, p. 43
There’s no shortage of wonderful die bundles in this catalogue, but In the Pines gets my vote for three reasons. First of all, with a lovely graphic collection of trees in various sizes, it will be so fast to create beautiful cards that are instantly recognizable as holiday cards. However – my second reason is that you can also use this bundle for non-holiday cards! Sympathy, Thinking of You, Birthday, and other occasions would all fit right in. Third, it’s a Distinktive stamp set that will add so much texture to your project! I love the art style of the tree stamps, the two-step stamp design that allows you to experiment with different colours, and the negative image dies in the die set. Add the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder (page 35) and you’re all set to create a whole forest full of stunning tree cards!

Best BlingBalmy Blue Glimmer Paper, p. 37
The Snowflake Splendor suite is one of the most popular in the mini catalogue, and no wonder – from the wintry blues of the DSP to the heartwarming sentiments of the stamp set, there’s a lot to love. The Balmy Blue glimmer paper adds the perfect bling to your snowy project!

Best Halloween ProductHallows Night Magic bundle, p. 54
The filigree stamped bats in this stamp set are a spooky delight, and the magic of this suite doesn’t stop there. I’m LOVING the colour palette of Pretty Peacock, Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze and Basic Black in the Designer Series Paper, and the Cobwebs 3D embossing folder is terrific (check out the sample photo, where they’ve used silver foil in this folder – stunning!). The iridescent pearls finish off the creepy crawly spiders just perfectly. Yup, I think I need to get this whole suite!

Best New ToolCard Display , p. 41
What a great and handy product to have on hand at this time of year! Whether you’re displaying handmade cards you’ve created, storebought cards you’ve received, or anything in between, this rack will display them beautifully. I love that it comes apart to store flat, and that it includes clips to hang the cards! Brilliant and affordable product at $41 – and makes a great gift, too!

Best KitThe Christmas Countdown Project Kit, p. 6
This is a returning favourite from last year and I had to include it again on my Top Pick list! I was so amazed to see all the awesome and creative things crafters used this kit for last year – it’s good for way more than just Christmas. See more examples here!

Best Deal in the CatalogueThe Starter Kit, p. 82

New Pick a Punch, p. 65
I’m super excited to see the Banners Pick a Punch! If I had a nickel for every time I’ve tried (and failed) to cut a neat little banner end on my cardstock … well, let’s just say I’d have more than enough nickels to buy this punch! This will get a lot of use in my craft room, year-round!
