Tutorial: Double Dutch Door

Posted on: February 25, 2020

The Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper is one of the most gorgeous papers in the catalogue, and this fold is the perfect way to showcase it as you can use three different paper designs on your card!

The cardbase for this fancy fold (Double Dutch Door) is made of two pieces of Early Espresso cardstock. The long strip is scored in two places (8.5 x 2”, scored at 2-1/8” from each end), so that the two ends will fold around the front of your card. The larger piece is scored once (9 x 4-3/16”, scored at 5.5”), for the panel to fold down in front.

Here are the rest of the measurements:

Petal Pink cardstock:
2 x 1-7/8” (2)
5-3/8 x 4-1/16” (inside card)
4-1/16 x 3-3/8”

DSP:
1-7/8 x 1.75” (2)
3-15/16 x 3.25”

White insert:
5.25 x 3-15/16”

Attach Petal Pink cardstock to large upper panel. Attach cardstock to two lower panels. Add DSP pieces to these three panels.

Apply adhesive to the middle panel of your long thin strip of Early Espresso, and attach to the back of your card. Layer white cardstock and Petal Pink cardstock and put on the inside of the card. Stamp white cardstock if desired.

Stamp large magnolia stamp in Memento Black ink on white cardstock and colour with Blends. Cut out with Magnolia Memory dies.

Use Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut shapes from DSP and Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Layer behind magnolia and add to card. When attaching to card, be careful to put adhesive only on the top half.

If desired, stamp a second magnolia and fussy cut out only the centre. Use your bone folder to curl the petals, and embellish with pearls if you wish!

Add this layer to your flower for extra dimension.
