I’m so excited to be participating in the Seashore Stampers Blog Hop once again, and I’m sharing a card that’s very special to me. This month the theme is Wedding, and it just so happens that a dear friend of mine got married last weekend, so I get to share the card I made for her!
Christina and I first met in late 2016, at a cardmaking class. We hit it off right away and found out we’re even from the same hometown – what a fun coincidence! She soon started asking questions about joining Stampin’ Up!, and we met a few times to make sure all her questions were answered and that she felt confident taking that next step. In November 2017 she jumped in, and since that time she has been unstoppable! She reached both her Quick Start goals easily, and then reached another stampin’ milestone when she promoted to Silver …. all at the same time as she and her partner planned a wedding, bought a house, and adopted a new dog into their family! She gets more done in a day than most people do in a week and I have so much admiration and respect for her!
I knew right away that I wanted to make her a really special wedding card, and I thought the Magnolia Lane suite would be just perfect. I don’t have the dies for this set (yet!) but it was easy to do a bit of fussy cutting on the large flower. I CASE’d this design from two different cards that I saw online, and I loved the technique of stamping two flowers and cutting out the centre of one, to add a three-dimensional feel to the multiple petals. I think it turned out really well!
I didn’t have a lot of room to add a sentiment on the front of the card, so I stamped one from Beautiful Bouquet on the inside. That stamp set has so many lovely sentiments, perfect for a wide variety of occasions!

One of the fun things I do over the summer is play with lots and lots of products from the new annual catalogue and work on designing projects that I’ll use at my workshops over the September-June season. Today, I decided to play with a new bundle that was one of the first things to catch my eye when I saw the new catalogue – Band Together – as well as a couple of embossing folders and the new embossing plate.
Band Together is a really cool stamp-and-die bundle with gorgeous, intricate shapes made specifically to make a big splash on your card front. The sentiment stamps co-ordinate perfectly with the shapes, making it easy to create simple yet stunning cards.
I also wanted to play with my two new embossing folders, Scripty and Subtle. These are both 3D embossing folders, the kind that leave a deep impression on your cardstock. The new embossing plate makes it really easy to layer in your Big Shot – just use your multi-purpose platform, the embossing plate, and your folder.
If you’re wondering how you missed the embossing plate in your catalogue, you’re not imagining things – it isn’t in there! You can find it in the online store, but the product was developed after the catalogue had gone to print, so it doesn’t appear there.

What’s it like being on your team? I love to promote a fun, supportive atmosphere with my team. I believe in celebrating milestones, learning together, and helping each other whenever possible. But don’t take my word for it … here’s what some of my teammates have to say:
We hold team meetings approximately every quarter, where we get together to share our successes, find answers to our questions, and strategize about the upcoming months. I’m also available via text, email, and messenger when questions pop up in between meetings, and we have a closed Facebook group for our team, where I share files and information.
Do I have to sell the products to friends/family? No, selling is not mandatory. In order to maintain your demonstratorship, there is a quarterly minimum of 300 CSV (more on that term below). That’s about $100/month. Many people are able to spend enough to maintain their demonstratorship without selling to anyone else – they call themselves “hobby demos”. If you do choose to sell, the 20-25% commission you earn on customer purchases will handily support your crafting habits – and you can meet your required minimum with 1-2 workshops per quarter.
What if I decide I don’t like being a demonstrator? No harm done! I encourage anyone who might be interested to buy the starter kit, hold a class or two (with my help, if you like), and see what you think. By the time you’ve reached the end of your first three months, you’ll know whether you want to keep going. If not, enjoy all the wonderful discounted products you purchased – there is no need to return anything, or pay any additional fees to Stampin’ Up!.
I’m part of your monthly Stampers’ Club. What happens if I become a demonstrator? If you join my team as a demonstrator, you’ll still need to finish out the year in the monthly hostess club – however, I will honour your discount on all your club purchases, so your monthly purchase commitment will decrease 🙂 I have one team member who continues to participate in my club, for a fun social evening as well as crafty inspiration! Another option is to “buy” your remaining months in the club. The monthly commitment is $20, so you would make a one-time payment to me of $16 ($20 less your 20% discount) multiplied by the number of months you have left in the club.
What does CSV mean? CSV is the system that Stampin’ Up ! uses to convert retail price to local currency. This allows them to say that all demonstrators – no matter what country they are in – must reach the quarterly minimum of 300 CSV.
“Whenever sales are mentioned in the Compensation Plan, they won’t be shown in local currency. In order to make our compensation plan applicable to all markets, regardless of currency, we use a common measurement: commissionable sales volume or CSV. CSV is a measurement unit by which sales are tracked. Our ordering systems and reports convert your local currency to CSV automatically.”
So your minimum quarterly target is not $300 CAD; it’s 300 CSV.
The CSV conversion amounts are assessed once a year based on the global currency rates and may shift up or down slightly; right now, 300 CSV = $394.50.
If you order $394.50 in product, the amount you pay will change slightly: $394.50 retail + $39.45 shipping + $40.24 tax – $78.90 discount = $395.29 total due.
Stampin’ Rewards come into play as well. In this example, you would earn $47.34 in free product. And as an additional perk, there are no shipping costs on Stampin’ Rewards! So once you choose your free product, you’ve got $440 worth of product for a $375 price tag (including shipping and tax). And this is all based on the scenario of making the entire order yourself without any friends or customers contributing. If you decide to hold classes, even small classes every few months – or merely have a few select friends get together for an informal crafting night and share an order – you can easily make your minimums and start to make a profit as well! Any order above $200 would earn free rewards, and any order above $550 would earn you a half-price product.
When is the best time to join? Before August 31st to take advantage of this awesome Extra, Extra promotion! Joining any other time is still a terrific deal, but this offer really takes it to the next level!

Today’s video is a little bit different, because instead of starting off by showing you the project I’m going to create, I’m letting you watch as I have my very first play with a brand new stamp set and die bundle. Exciting or terrifying? You be the judge!
I had my first Fancy Folds class on the weekend and it went really well! My five attendees made four fancy fold cards using Designer Series Paper they’d chosen themselves, It was really wonderful to see how the fancy fold cards looked when created with different papers. I wish I’d taken photos of the finished products, but of course I forgot! I can show you the sample cards that I made, though.
This is the Bendy card, which I made using the Come Sail Away suite. The Bendy card is both easier and more challenging than I predicted – it’s part card, part piece-of-art! It sure looks cool once it’s completed, especially when it’s decorated with co-ordinating sentiments, images, and embellishments. And yes, it all folds flat to fit in an envelope for mailing!
The Twist and Pop card has been one of my favourite fancy folds for a long time, and I loved teaching it to a new group of crafters yesterday. You can decorate these panels with anything you like – letters, images, sentiments, or even leave them as they are to show off the beautiful Designer Series Paper.

This week’s Stampin’ Sunday video will show you how to make a Square Diagonal Pullout card – a fun fold card that comes together really quickly and can be decorated any way you like. The finished card fits in a 3 x 3″ envelope.

I learned how to make this lovely card at a recent demonstrator meeting, where my friend Carolyn encouraged us to “let the DSP do the talking” for this simple yet striking design. The only hard part about this project is figuring out which Designer Series Paper to use; Carolyn used Perennial Essence for her project, and I’ve chosen Bird Ballad.

Cardstock: 5-1/2 x 7-1/4″; score at 3″
DSP: 2-3/8 x 4-7/8″
White frame for DSP: 2-3/4 x 5-1/4″
White insert for inside card: 4 x 5-1/4″; stamp a simple design on the right side of this piece. It will be visible whether the card is open or closed!
The finishing touch is to add a stamped sentiment on the front panel. I chose one from the Free as a Bird stamp set, and used the 2″ Circle punch to cut it out, adding a 2-1/4″ circle punched from the same colour as my cardstock base to frame it.
