Swap Cards from OnStage Vancouver

As I promised last week, I want to show you all the cards I received from OnStage in Vancouver. I didn’t participate in any organized swaps, just floor swaps with the two designs I’d created (read more about them here). I was a little nervous that people wouldn’t like my swaps, but not a single person refused to swap with me, and many gave me kind comments and encouragement 🙂 Turns out that most of us Stampin’ Up! demonstrators are pretty terrific people! 😀

So, here are all the swaps I received.  I’ve labeled the photos with the main products used and the names of the makers – although for several of the cards, they were not labeled when I received them, so I don’t know who made them!

The demonstrators I met at this event were warm, welcoming, and supportive and I can’t wait till the next get-together. If you’d like to join in at events like this, join my team and we can go to the next event together! Being a demonstrator is awesome – you get to work your own hours, have fun, meet new people, and craft your heart out. If you’re interested or have questions, let me know!

Hope you enjoy the photos! If these fabulous cards inspire you to order any of the products shown, you can shop 24/7 at my online store. And hurry, because some of these products are retiring soon and are only available while supplies last! Don’t forget to use the current hostess code (over on the right-hand side of my website) to get a free gift from me as well! Happy Stampin’!

OnStage Make and Take Cards

This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to attend OnStage and CentreStage in Vancouver, BC. It was so energizing to be in a room full of hundreds of demonstrators and be the first ones to receive the brand new annual catalogue, watch product demonstrations, learn about exciting new ways to connect with our teams and customers, and of course, do some hands-on make and take projects using brand new products!

I am so excited about this stunning Bird Ballad suite. The Designer Series Paper was designed in black and white, and then coloured by artists using our own Stampin’ Blends before being digitized and produced for our catalogue. It just goes to show what gorgeousness you can create with the Blends! I was able to quickly and easily colour the stamped image of the birds on the branch to complement the beautiful paper. I even got to bring home some of the Blends we used, and a spool of that lovely scalloped lace trim!

The Come Sail Away suite is also amazing. There’s so many wonderful images and sentiments suitable for masculine cards and projects! I love the texture of the lighthouse stamp we used here – it’s almost like a Distinktive stamp – and the charming little anchor embellishment.

Follow Your Art is a totally irresistible suite. There’s a button-themed embossing folder, a stamp set and thinlit bundle, and of course some adorable Designer Series Paper that features crafting images both specific to Stampin’ Up! (like ink refillers, ribbon, twine, and scissors) and covering other crafting areas (like glue guns, paintbrushes, and buttons). The result is inspiring to any kind of crafter!

This beautiful project is one that came directly out of May’s Paper Pumpkin kit, “Hugs From Shelli”. Shelli Gardner is the Co-founder of Stampin’ Up!, and she designed this kit specifically to include her favourite styles and images. Like all Paper Pumpkin kits, it’s very easy to put together, even for the beginning crafter – and an avid crafter could easily step up the projects to make them really pop. This kit will create 12 mailable cards with coordinating envelopes, and of course will come with an exclusive stamp set. Oh, and best of all? While Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are only available in North America, this kit will be available as a regular order item to all Stampin’ Up! markets! So exciting for our overseas friends!

Can you tell that this suite was inspired by Monet’s art? The soft colours and brushstroke textures are truly lovely. The pink flowers you see were punched out of Petal Pink vellum cardstock with the new Perennial Flower punch, and embellished with self-adhesive embellishments called “Floral Centres”.

Which of these suites are you most excited to play with? Leave a comment below and let me know! The new catalogue will be available soon, so let me know if you’d like to receive one!

Be sure to check back next week when I’ll be sharing photos of all the swap cards I received at the event!

My OnStage Swap Cards

I can’t believe I’m heading to OnStage in only three more sleeps!! I’m super excited about meeting other demonstrators from all over Western North America, learning new business strategies from Stampin’ Up! HQ, and of course…. getting my hands on the new catalogue!!

Another aspect I enjoy participating in is swaps. While many demonstrator events, including OnStage, have ‘organized swaps’ – meaning, participants agree to make cards (or other projects) with a certain theme, and make one for every person participating – I didn’t find any organized swaps that suited me, so I am participating only in ‘floor swaps’. Floor swaps are more impromptu, meaning you make as many cards as you feel like making, and then when you meet other demonstrators at the event, you ask if they are interested in swapping. The hope is, if you make fifty of the same card, you’ll come home with fifty DIFFERENT cards!

I decided to make two different swap cards, because I wanted to be able to offer potential swappers a choice when they swap with me. For the first card, I knew I wanted to use This Little Piggy and a wobble spring effect like I learned (and blogged about) at the Vancouver Island Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators February meeting. Here’s a reminder of the card I made there:

And here’s the card I designed for my OnStage swaps:

In addition to This Little Piggy, I also used Amazing Life for the sentiment (I believe in you) and the Pinewood Planks embossing folder for the background layer. To make the spring, I used 30 gauge floral wire, along with wire cutters, a screwdriver (to wrap the wire around), a 1″-circle punch, a pinhole punch, and Tear and Tape adhesive.

You can watch my live video here if you want to see exactly how to create the wobble spring.

I was really pleased with this project, but I also wanted to do something more elegant in case not everyone wanted a cutesy piggy card. One of my teammates recently gave me the “Statement of the Heart” stamp, which was part of an exclusive demonstrator offer last summer, and I thought that would be a great stamp to set off another technique I wanted to try: block stamping.

In block stamping, you use the acrylic blocks directly on the inkpad and cardstock to create a block of colour. You can create a lot of really cool effects! I think the delicate lines of the stamped flowers add a really interesting complement to the blocky shapes. What do you think?

So those are my two swaps on offer for OnStage Vancouver this weekend! Check back next week and I’ll have lots to share with you about what I saw and learned while I was there!

If either of these projects have inspired you, remember you can shop 24/7 at my online store. And if you’d like to come along with me to the next OnStage event,  join my team!

Happy Stampin’!

Storage by Stampin’ Up!

I can’t keep calm – storage by Stampin’ Up! is finally here!

Ever since the gorgeous new stackable inkpads were introduced last year, there have been quiet mentions that a storage solution would be available as well. And now, here it is! There is so much to love about these items:
– They feature clean, simple lines in white, sure to go with any decor
– They are modular, stackable, and customizable, so you can build your storage to suit YOUR needs
– They come in affordable bundles (e.g. a set of five trays for $19) which makes it easy to add storage as your collection grows
– They are designed specifically with Stampin’ Up! products in mind – inkpads, markers, Blends, refills, and more

I LOVE that the storage is modular; instead of buying a gigantic piece to hold the whole collection (which would immediately make me feel that I needed to buy, buy, buy to fill it up with every item in the catalogue), I can buy a few pieces at a time as needed – which helps my budget as well. Brilliant!

Best of all? You don’t need to wait to start building your own customized storage solution! Yes, these items will be available in the new annual catalogue (June 3rd), but Stampin’ Up! knows we don’t want to wait – so they are releasing these products on April 1st. That’s right, they’re available NOW!

Stampin’ Up! has even created a handy worksheet to help you figure out what storage pieces to start with, so take a few minutes to review your collection and make your wishlist. Here’s the flyer with all the price info and item numbers, when you’re ready to order! Don’t forget to use the current hostess code so you can get a gift from me as well!
