Product Spotlight: Beautiful You

Posted on: August 28, 2018

I’ve been playing with the “Beautiful You” stamp set recently. This is a carryover from the previous annual catalogue, and at this time of year, it’s easy to forget about those “old” sets in favour of new ones …. but this set is still current and for me at least, it’s got a lot of life left in it!

Here’s a wonderful set of cards I made last year featuring the “dancing girl” and a selection of the fabulous sentiments included in this set. This stamp set includes 13 stamps, including a very versatile collection of eight sentiments.

For the cards above, I used one of the stamps to create the splash of colour in the girl’s dress. However, this time I wanted to try a different technique.

For these cards, I used the ‘stylish girl’, and did paper-piecing for the dress and hat. I used to be very intimidated by paper-piecing, but now that I know how easy it is (and the fantastic effects it can create), I use it often! All you need to do is stamp on your designer series paper with black ink, then fussy-cut it out. Stamp the same image on your white cardstock, then use adhesive to attach the cut-out DSP. Ta-da! Look at that stylish lady!

This is a really simple layout for showcasing our beautiful designer series paper, and the cards come together really quickly. It was easy to create a stack of these gorgeous cards for mailing to my RAK card friends!

If you’d like to recreate this card, here are the measurements:
DSP panel is 3 x 4.25″, with a black outline measuring 3 1/8 x 4 3/8″.
White panel is 2 5/8 x 3 7/8″, with a black outline measuring 2.75 x 4″.

For these particular cards, I used our new 2018-2020 In Color Collection. I also used some teensy pearls for embellishing.
