Home Decor SU Style Blog Hop June 2018

Posted on: June 19, 2018

Today I’m trying something new, participating in a blog hop! I belong to a fun and inspiring group on Facebook called “SU Style Home Decor“. Participants post all kinds of beautiful home decor items they have created with Stampin’ Up! products. Today is their first ever blog hop! If you’re hopping along, welcome to my page!

I’m fairly new to creating home decor items, so I wanted to start with one of the most basic items: a framed piece. I’ve created a few framed pieces before and for someone who is just branching out from cardmaking or scrapbooking, it’s a really easy way to get into creating beautiful decor projects.

For this piece, I used the very fun Lemon Zest stamp set and the Lemon Builder punch. I’m so glad these products carried over into this year’s annual catalogue, because to me they are perfect to create with at this time of year! It was very fun to use this stamp set with all the gorgeous new colours – it makes me think of pink lemonade, lemonade stands, and those tart fruit gummies sprinkled with sugar.

I used Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green, as well as black ink. In addition to the Lemon Builder punch, I also used the 1 3/4″ circle punch, which lines up perfectly with the round lemon stamp!

If you’re wondering how I created that stripey background, it’s a new technique I saw recently that I really like! Use one of your long acrylic blocks (F or H). Using the edge of the block (the groove where your fingers usually go) as a stamp, press gently into your inkpad and then onto your cardstock. This is one of those techniques that isn’t about perfection; don’t worry about making every stripe evenly spaced, as whatever you do will look terrific.

I’m very pleased with the finished piece, and will be using it as a giveaway item on my Facebook page! Be sure to like and follow Inkyfingers Papercrafting on Facebook so you don’t miss any posts!
